Re: Collab-Conlang

Nevermind with the pm.
I've never done a collab before. Using the forum seems spammy to me honestly.
Do you want to go to skype text, or voice, whatever suits you, or some other form of communication.

Collab-Conlang

I'm looking for someone who's interesting in creating a lang. I love languages but I'm a bit of a perfectionist and because I always manage to find some flaws in my conlangs I end up trying to correct them endlessly, so with lack of progress, nothing definite comes out. I suspect that 2 persons work...

Re: (L&N) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

Maybe something like this ? That looks like a fun site, thanks! But too bad it lacks IPA. I wonder how popular such a website site would be. It would be really helpful for me if it existed, but pronunciation is very far from the most important thing in language learning and most don't know even kno...

Re: The second SPAM thread!

Hey. I've been dead again for some time now. I've ressed to ask if anyone around knew or was interesting in getting some site with passages from various languages with IPA transcriptions including lyrics of songs or something similar? I didn't want to post a thread so I came to spam the spam thread....

Re: Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

Is there a difference between (d̥ and t) and (t̬ and d)?
I remember to have searched about this before, but I think I got no answer.

So if I use emoticons does that make my conworld worse? O: ):

Re: Fry's Planet Word

Does anyone want to share how to view it if you're no in UK? I could ask a friend but I'd rather not bother him.
I tried several online UK proxies, none worked.

Re: Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

German is highly irregular in syllabilification unless you catch that "feeling" for it. It's easy when you have one or two consonants: Zu-ker, Dir-ne... It gets messy as you add consonants. This is the best I can give you without cutting out my brain :) Thank you. I guess I can't expect to go to Ge...

Re: Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

Does anyone know a good resource for German syllable division?
It's the only thing I have left to understand German.
Maybe I can't find any decent ones because German is very irregular as for it's syllabification. Can I have confirmation on this too please?

Re: Pronunciation

My advice which is what I unconsciously did is to understand what the vowel chart, but first: -Listen to the sound you want to produce, if possible use a native's sound sample. -Then try to approximate it using the vowel chart. (if you feel you're getting further away from a certain vowel sound you ...

Re: Associations

I don't even know if I'd categorise myself as synasthete but I find the contrast I see in the way everyone associates things including myself hilariously stupid. Edit:Without meaning to offend anyone, everyone's else associations seem so ugly. Edit2: I just associate some with certain vague mental i...

Re: Personalities.

Is thinking percentage something like disagreeableness percentage which is a number associated with the the tendency a person has to disagree with things heard in general?
That seems to be what you're saying but it seems a bit strange...

Re: Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

Thanks for answering. But I'm still unsure about s. Also:s: before and between vowels: [z] or [z̥]; beginning of syllable: [ʃ] That's not quite correct. /s/ is [z] at the beginning of words and between vowels. That <s> [ʃ]-thing is more an orthographical thing I think, when followed by <p> or <t>, <...

Re: Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

I've been trying to learn German and I'm using this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_orthography to help me. Can someone tell me what's the most common pronunciation of "pf" at the beginning of a word, "qu" and "r" in Bremen? Also: s: before and between vowels: [z] or [z̥]; beginning of syllable:...
