Re: Things/words unique to your accent/dialect?

You're definitely not from an English-speaking country. You've claimed that Serbian is your native tongue from time to time, and sometimes German. Anyway, I think this topic has been derailed enough now. I would advise taking this into the spam thread or somewhere else. It'd be nice if you could mo...

Re: Things/words unique to your accent/dialect?

Nope, as Rickard said, I'm Swedish, but I know enough about German to see that darkgamma is full of shit. Where are you proposing Darkgamma's from then? I honestly see no need for him to lie about being German... This. The only place left for me to stem from is some English-speaking country then. O...

Re: Things/words unique to your accent/dialect?

I'm getting tired of you pretending to speak German. Drop it. That's cruel. This is a dialect thread. Yeah, and you don't even manage to pass for someone speaking an obscure dialect. Next time you try to fake an L1, try to do it with a language you actually speak. Seriously, Aszev, this is going to...

Re: Things/words unique to your accent/dialect?

In Russian, my accent is pretty much Standard Russian. My mom's parents came from down south, though, so pretty much everyone in the same generation of my grandparents fricatize their [g]s and have Ukrainian-like intonations. It's really annoying, if you ask me. I wish we had Novgorodian accents or...

Completely natural, not hypernatural, just another sentient alien that naturally evolved to breach the known laws of the universe.

Re: Twaqan

Vowel system looks like Mandarin. Grossly simplified, but to be honest, a conlang that truly had Mandarin's vowel system would be mind-bendingly insane. Nineteen vowels, unless I miss my count. In Mandarin? It depends on the analysis. Some analyses put it down to three with all the other vowels and...

I didn't put it like that because it has some magicky connotations. I don't have magic in my sci-fi world

Yes, I understood that, but my brain cannot parse it as valid English, especially with the disconnected sentences. It is quite clunky... I'm not sure I'd phrase it that way myself, but anyway. I'm not familiar with the quotation, but I suspect it's from a somewhat older text--constructions of this ...

Update! I'm a bit familiar with :tsn: !Xóõ , I wouldn't say I could carry a conversation but I'm pretty good at the grammar. My vocabulary is lacking a bit, but I can say a few things. Once you get past the obscenely large phonology it's a really cool language. Too bad Anthony Traill's grammar and ...
