Passport Stamp Relay

I remember doing this once a while ago, and it had some activity, so I figured why not give it another go... So, this is a blank page from an Ilian (concountry) Passport. https://orig00.deviantart.net/5b2d/f/2017/250/2/6/ilia_stamp_page_5_by_requindesang-dbmp6oe.png Blank passport pages, however, wi...

Re: Metal Thread

Ooh, it's been a while since I posted, but I might as well mention the last few concerts I saw that were tangentially metal-related: October of last year: Apocalyptica, playing their debut album plus some other stuff (all instrumental!) This June (around my birthday): Volbeat with Shinedown as the o...

Re: The Scripps National Spelling Bee

When I was in 3rd through 7th grade, my brother qualified every year to the regional level spelling bees where we were. He ended up also qualifying for Nationals in 7th grade, so my mother, my brother, and I all got to go to Washington, D.C., so he could compete in the finals. Fortunately as well, t...

After all these years, I'm finally going to Sweden in May!
Very nice; where to? I found Stockholm quite nice, and surprisingly not that expensive (by Luxembourg standards).

Re: The Quintessential 5th Conversation Thread

I kinda did assume everyone here was studying linguistics. [¬.¬] I'm looking forward to applying to colleges this fall as a linguistics major; I couldnt consider anything else. Wish there were courses in conlanging, though... All of my linguistics has been personal studying, not formal; in college,...

Re: The Quintessential 5th Conversation Thread

Credit cards don't have PINs, though debit cards do. In Luxembourg and France at least, credit cards do use a Chip and PIN system. Whenever I use my credit card (except online), I have to input the associated PIN. Without fail. Though I honestly prefer using cash, especially when travelling. Lets m...

Re: The Quintessential 5th Conversation Thread

Similarly, in central europe trains are usually a nice, comfortable and efficient travel option — but they’re very expensive so you have to decide at what point they’re just not worth it anymore. Zürich to Paris? I’ll take the TGV. Any further? Plane’s faster and cheaper at this point. The good thi...

Re: The Quintessential 5th Conversation Thread

Flying in Europe isn't too horribly expensive thanks to Ryanair and other super-cheap airlines with prices lower than a politician's standards and service to match. Of course, you get what you pay for... But, when I went to/from university when I lived in the US, I drove every time I needed to go be...

Re: The Majestic 4th Conversation Thread

I find a smooth writing fountain pen to be really nice for my regular note taking needs. Might be a bit more high maintenance but they are a joy to write with, last long, and allow you to choose just the colour of ink that you want. And no-one says that you have to have any tidier handwriting with ...

Re: The Majestic 4th Conversation Thread

And obsolete. Who sends handwritten letters anymore? Do they even still teach penmanship? (oh, and BTW, get off my lawn, you young whippersnappers!) I'm not sure I actually lament this development (I still do thank-you notes by hand, but I'm of a generation), but there was a time you got a little f...
