Re: What are you listening to/watching?

Not as international, but about five days ago, I heard this on the radio, and cannot for the life of me get it out of my head Moz the Pope of Mope & Men from Manchester - How soon is now? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnpILIIo9ek But, who would want it out of one's head? Quintessential undergrad j...

Re: What did you accomplish today?

Today I finished working with an artist who made a series of pictures of people from The World. Five queens of various countries in the Eastlands. Certainly blows my poor pen & pencil sketches out of the proverbial water! Will you be posting them? There's hoping! Oh, very cool! I hope we get to see...

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

Also, do these postulated speakers have nasal passages?

If so, are they separate from the oral cavity, as with humans, or do their nasal passage empty right into their oral cavity, like frogs?

Re: The Quintessential 5th Conversation Thread

I think this is my new favorite expression: all my eye and Betty Martin Its obscure origin makes it even more interesting, though some of the purported etymologies of this phrase are all my eye and Betty Martin themselves. [;)] Well, I'll go to foot of our stair! A new favourite! Thanks friend! Tha...

Re: Modern Hittite lang: realistic?

To make things a bit clearer, I've considered creating a sort of status constructus where a word shifts into the dative case when it is possessed, but is that realistic in any way, shape or form? You can always analyse that there are two different cases that are just homonymic. Like the genitive & ...

Re: Modern Hittite lang: realistic?

So… … what ur looking for is a "possessed case". I do not think that happens in the IE gang. The Cariban Languages and Tlingit, as per Wikipedia, apparently have a "possessed case", where the noun possessed is marked, rather than the possessor. Semitic langs and Egyptian, and Finnish, have pronomina...
