By "name things" do you mean create a lexicon for your language?

Is it not simpler to assume that me and my simply merged either in function or just pronunciation?

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

Well, I guess that's true, but wanting people to get anything they didn't "earn" and/or don't "deserve" is generally a leftist idea. ...No, the fact that you equate "free" with "didn't earn" or some sort of "deservedness quotient" has more to do with just how much the money-making capitalist machin...

Re: The Quintessential 5th Conversation Thread

A friend of mine had a cape w/hood that he picked up at a Renaissance Faire. It was hella fun to wear, but definitely made ya stand out... Even at Wal-Mart.

Dunno if yours will be that overdone or more subtle. Either way, I say, go nuts and have fun while ya can!

Re: The Esseintial Núta Blog

That's an interesting point, actually. It feels right (though I haven't a clue of it is) that a language with a lot of clustering in the onset should/would have consonants in the coda as well. To have Núta disregard this, would be a cool and somewhat unexpected fact. As always, don't let us stand in...

Re: What did you accomplish today?

I guess I don't worry so much about that kinda stuff. I work on the phonology based on some idea or whatnot until I have something passable and then make a sketch of phonotactics and create some syllables. Then I go back and home the phonology until I am okay with what comes out. Usually, it's at th...

Re: Lexember 2017

I mean... Not to get too religious-y here but, isn't that just an unfalsifiable claim? I mean any word (with a broad enough brush) could be thought of as related to a distantly/tangentially related concept if they so happen to share a sound or three!

Re: How would you romanize Kazakh?

Ya know, I feel like the proposed orthography is missing something. I feel like all the letters without apostrophes should get some so they don't feel left out and you can just double the number on letters that already had them to avoid ambiguity.

Re: What did you accomplish today?

(Sorry for the double post.)

Oh yeah, and I made one of my first words in Shitullian... at least, one that follows the suffixes that I just created, anyway. The more I write in Shitullian, the more I love it.

Re: What did you accomplish today?

Sorry to hear it! I know I am often dickering with my phonology for most of a language's lifespan. For a while I resorted to Project Name in order to avoid the word I was using as the name from being invalidated! In other words, I feel your pain to a certain extent. However, I wouldn't drop out just...

What are some suggestions to represent creaky voice phonation in a Romanization? (Note: an underdot is already in use, and will need to be able to combine with whatever is suggested.)

Re: The Esseintial Núta Blog

Hmmm, while I like coda /k/, it seems like a bit of an odd man out being the most back consonant to be in the coda. Almost seems like /x/ should join it as an allophone of /h/? Or maybe dump it for symmetry? At any rate, I do have one thing to add, *ahem*. *bangs fists on table in time to my chantin...
