Re: Forum News discussion/feedback thread

Why, all of a sudden, are we being inundated by porn spam? What?! Have I just been ignorant of this because of how fast the mods have been moving or what, somebody explain! Porn spam threads made by bots keep popping up in the Conlangs subforum, I spoke too soon! I just saw an example of the porn s...

I think you misunderstood: I haven't made the script yet, I've merely formulated the principles that I'll use in making it.

Was /j/? If so, then that fits the proposal.
/j/ wasn't legal since all initial sonorants in Proto-Hlai, in Norquest's reconstruction are voiceless.

Re: (L&N) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

From what I'm reading in Norquest 2007, I'm lead to believe that /ɾj/ was an acceptable onset cluster at one point in the languages' development, but /ɾ/ had already become /l/, meaning that /ɾ/ itself wasn't an acceptable onset.

Re: What did you accomplish today?

I decided to independently work on a Hlailang, and then make some Sawndip-like characters.

So far I got to the "base" of the Hlailang, and I know roughly what the Hlailang's history is like.

Oof! This could be a fun one [:D] I assume we're guessing grouping as well, or are these all neighbours in an island chain, with Lang1 at one extreme and Lang11 at another? If I had to make a preliminary guess, I'd say something like *eskʷeno Right now Auvon is the closest. All of you have the two ...

"Derivation". Most of them are derived from PIE *ǵʰley or *ǵʰelh₃. It wouldn't strike me as particularly surprising if the two are considered related/derivative of each other. English's position as a highly innovative and borrowing language has allowed different variants of the same word to spread t...

Re: RIP cursive handwriting..

Anyways, I don't actively use cursive since cursive is hard to read, and hard to write properly. I usually conjoin certain letter combinations, especially those with e. I'm looking through a written test I did a while ago to see the ligatures I write: "dent", "ea", "che", "ng", "ve", "au", "us", "me...

I liked the sectioning in the previous CBB (the mediaeval CBB? Middle CBB?). This does away with it for the worse imo.

As elem said, most Americans wouldn't view Frislander's writing as cursive or "script". We are pretty much taught that the only right way is the one in the image that elem posted.
