It's something completely different, though I'm not afraid to take ideas from old scrapped conworlds and recycle them so you'll probably recognize a lot of stuff.
Wait, are you saying you scrapped the Tazar world and all that wonder!?

For non-native English speakers who may not understand the playground retort, it's (as I learned it): Sticks and stones May break my bones But words shall never harm me Nice playground advice for playground bullying. Re: The Quintessential 5th Conversation Thread

Then again, as always, context. Some people might be perfectly fine being called "crippled" in general, because that term isn't offensive to them, which is likely to differ depending on where they came from and when they grew up, in the same way that "coloured" might or might not be offensive to so...

Or Lamarck, perhaps? The Christian concept of original sin is very Lamarckian. The account of the Garden of Eden says that Adam and Eve were made sin-free. Then they both ate of the forbidden fruit and became sinful, and as a result all of their descendants should be considered sinners. Adam's sin ...

So, one of these is very related to conlangs, and the other, not so much. Firstly, what unique/unusual languages would you recommend to take inspiration from? I've already made languages that are based off of Romance languages like Spanish, French etc, and the Gaelic languages like Gaeilge and Wels...

Re: A Taxonomy of Conlanging (help me out)

You can interpret it however you like, but the official word from me is that it is not an artlang. That's fine. And as you said, it could very well be a heartlang, except that here, heartlangs are suddenly associated as a subset of artlangs, which is a stretch imo. Indeed not! A heartlang can be an...

??? When the hell was “cripple” ever a slur??? I guess I must have been living in a different world! :$: [:S] [:$] I think so. I know I have! Seriously, any word in the language can be a slur: but only if we let ourselves become its victim. There was a time in our culture when a) we as children wer...

There are no physically East Asian looking people in the 31st World. Please, don't be a racist, peoples of all ethnicity should be allowed to exist in all conworlds if human exists. Why? In what way is this "racist"? Unless you're trying to make a joke, this comes across as needlessly pc. It's her ...

I just assumed “breaking the dyke” all had something to do with a lesbian running out of money. I had no idea “dyke” was derogatory. I thought it was just shorthand slang, like “guy” or “dude”. Amy Bechdel’s comix may have influenced me. The only dykes I've ever come across are the ones that hold b...

Isao Tomita - Debussy Arabesque No. 1 ( Snowflakes are Dancing ) This particular version, quirky and just downright silly in parts, was used as the Intro and Outro theme for the PBS program Star Hustler . It was weekly program of about 15 minutes, hosted by Jack Horkheimer of the Miami Space Transi...

One that I am currently working on is monotheistic, but is loosely inspired by Aztec mythology. I also really like Islamic architecture and music, and I have been wanting to write a story with genies. Now that Aztec based system I'd like to see! And yes about Levantine architecture & music. Lots of...

Re: A Taxonomy of Conlanging (help me out)

I don't know enough about griuskant or the processes that gave it form to say, but from I've seen and from your above description, "artlang" seems like a good starting point. It's not so much that it is unclassifiable, it's more about the classifications here having inter-contradicting definitions,...

I'm not fond of White supremacist genocidal American democracy myself. The only candidates in the 2016 election I liked were Bernie Sanders and Jill Stein. For several years now I have believed that democracy is a failure and should be replaced with a leftist oligarchy. Ugh. Didn't like either of t...

Re: A Taxonomy of Conlanging (help me out)

With regards to taxonomy, none of the proposed classification schemes in this thread is able to categorise griuskant appropriately. The simplest suggestion for this imo, is to just label it as a conworld language, or even just use the fictional language box. Well, isn't that half the fun of taxonom...
