Re: (C&C) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

Okay, after a lot of consideration, I've decided to share my magic system for critiques. I wanted to move away from the standard mana system, but I think I ended up recreating it somewhat. In this conworld, there exists a plant (which for now I will call 'Arcana') that produces its own magical ener...

Re: The great Asta thread - not soon enough

In comparison there are no regular and productive valency-decreasing morphological processes in Asta. What strategies are used to achieve the equivalent of the English passive? "He was killed." or "The field was burned down." Topic-prominence, indefinite pronouns, ergativity. Oh, right, I forgot As...

Out of curiosity, did you work from a protolanguage or synchronically?

Re: The great Asta thread - not soon enough

Yay, an Asta thread! I had an idea of some of this due to translating your torch but a lot of it is new, as well.

I like the inventory, and I like your cluster resolution rules (? metathesis and palatalization).

It's common for coda palatals to be realized with a palatal onglide in languages that have them.

I've made a conlang thread here for the first time in ages for my IE language, currently there's phonology and a stream-of-consciousness post on o-stem nouns.
Will there be a thread on Asta?
[+1] After translating from Asta for the relay, I am interested in knowing more. It's a fun language.

Re: (L&N) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

I'm working on a conlang, but I need some natlang examples for a certain feature. I plan on have palatals, particularly the /ɲ/, occurring in the coda position. Honestly, I have a hard time pronouncing it when it follows an onset consonant. Do you have any natlang recordings of such a thing being s...

Re: CBB Conlang Relay X

I am a bit late with my torch. I have translated Frislander's text and prepared a Nakarian gloss. However, I need to turn that into an actual Nakarian text and write the language description. I hope to be done tomorrow.

What are some sources from which to derive a comparative particle or conjunction, like English “than”? If you're asking about possible morphemes that could receive that meaning, a frequent one is "as, like". Also, if you have suppletive comparative forms for a very common adjective (something like ...

Re: Random phonology/phonemic inventory thread

I don’t get why the same person does my orthographies and I have to redo them because they are so not cool looking. If you're talking about me, the Romanization game is just a game, not a place to go to have someone else come up with a "cool looking" orthography for you. When I'm playing the game i...

Thanks to all for the interest!

I'll start making the relay queue soon. If you can't participate at some time during the relay, do tell me what dates you're unavailable so I can adjust the queue accordingly.

New sign-ups are still welcome.
I'll be unavailable on Oct 4-7.
