Re: (L&N) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

Did you also check wiktionary? I don't see it there either, but I'd think a list of words would be more likely on wiktionary Than Wikipedia. If not, there's also wikisource and wikibopks, but those tend to be for things that have been previously published elsewhere. turns out it was on the wiktionar...

Re: (L&N) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

There was a wikipedia article with a list of tables of Proto Indo Iranian words with their avestan and sanskrit counterparts, but for the life of me I cannot find it again! Does anyone know what it might be?

is a *confirmed* creole developing synthetic morphology attested? Or are most creoles we know of too young to have developed that far yet?

Re: An Unofficial CBB Discord Server

It appears things on the server are finally picking up! I encourage those whove considered it to join now that it's finally reasonably active.

Re: What language could this person speak?

Actually this kinda looks like Farsi to me. Mainly because the preposition [be] has both locative and dative meanings, and it is very easy to make the sentence grammatical without changing word order or anything in Farsi. ʧeʤur (mitɒn-i) ʃuru dɒʃte.bɒʃ-i be yɒd.gereftan e ʤɒvɒ va kasi sɒjt-hɒ e xub ...

And to think, I -just- deleted the app from my phone since I rarely used it. Maybe now I should re-download it?

Can I get a link to join as well or is the other one still good?
The link has been replaced, it should work. If it does not, I'll send you one directly.

Re: An Unofficial CBB Discord Server

You know, if you want people to actually be able to join this discord server, perhaps you should check the expired invitation link. Here is the link with which to join the unofficial server: https://discord.gg/qskdWpS This link will never expire but is only good for fifty uses, meaning fifty people...

Re: (L&N) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

Alright. The idea is that this language has very strong retroflex harmony. Basically, all coronals become retroflex, and all vowels become rhotacized if there is at least one retroflex anywhere in the word. So for example /ʈatu/ = [ʈa˞ʈu˞] but the vowels rhoticized even in absence of neighboring re...

Re: (L&N) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

I've exhibited θ-fronting ever since I was a little kid in casual speech, yet I never front /ð/ > /v/. Why is this? Like I'll say things like: free : three [fɹiː] feeder : theater [fiɾɚ] think [fɪŋk] eighth : [eɪf] But the following sound awful to me and a lot more obviously "incorrect" in my idiol...

Re: Help making sense of Protoss?

Oh, wait, you said it's gibberish. Alright, so here's the thing: there's no actual method to the madness of these vocabulary lists here, so if you want to make a conlang based on what you're looking at, you can choose to interpret the words and divisions however you wish. Just take a look at the glo...

Re: Help making sense of Protoss?

I mean, I'll try, but you have to understand that the Protoss having a human-resembling language at all is kind of a conceit. They lack mouths. They wouldn't and technically don't even communicate the same way we do.

Re: (L&N) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

Does anyone know where I can get a tokpisin english dictionary? It seems to be unusually difficult to find for a majority language. This one any good? Wikibooks has a nice selection too, from just glancing over it. Thank you very much! That is perfect. I have no idea why google didn't spider that, ...

May I have some basic Greek Glosses?

Or at least an explanation of how Modern Greek and modern greek languages handle some basic things such as superlatives/comparatives, adjectival agreement and proper use of adjectives, proper use o...

Re: Phonemes

(Also, imo, seems pretty similar to Arabic, which I don't think has tʃ, but has d͡ʒ) Which I always found interesting. IIRC, Arabic /dʒ/ derives from an older /g/, just fronting it, then shifting to an affricate, but that process didn't affect Old Arabic /k/, except in a few dialects like Iraqi Ara...
