Re: My alternate world, and a calculation to find which latitude you'd be in

BTW, I've been told on alternatehistory.com that the monsoons in my alternate world are gonna be intense, because of how the continents are generally aligned, like, there are lots of large landmasses facing the water.

Accent tag

https://www.tagquestions.net/accent-tag-questions/ Some YouTube challenge. Oh, and here's my contribution to it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsljIZzh8lo EDIT: I thought this thread would be a good idea for this subforum because it is a challenge that makes one learn more about accents. Other exa...

My alternate world, and a calculation to find which latitude you'd be in

https://i.imgur.com/Y3AMwFP.png Use a latitude/longitude-based distance calculator, divide the result from 111, and subtract the result from 90. (BTW, I'm mostly curious about the climates in it.) EDIT: OK, so here's my attempt to justify the existence of this thread: because I wanted a thread for ...

Re: Conaccents or invented accents of natlangs

I don't really know what Singapore English sounds like, but based on what I think I know, I might also guess some influence from Singlish. I wouldn't be confident at all, though. But I'm not from Singapore. Well, in the first place, we're talking about your creatively-made-up conaccent, not your re...

Re: Conaccents or invented accents of natlangs

Are the characters in Teen Girl Squad supposed to be Californian? Or other West Coast USAnian? Or Hawaiian? Are its creators men from California or the West Coast or Hawaii? I'd guess so. But Teen Girl Squad is just a man talking in a bunch of funny voices. I knew it was male voice(s) imitating the...

Re: Conaccents or invented accents of natlangs

I was also influenced by Kath & Kim, and that entire turning-every-other-vowel-into-oi thingy. Hell, I even had to redo one "draft" because it almost sounded like an impersonation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXjYGBUuHmA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSMmxyGeEb4

Re: Conaccents or invented accents of natlangs

TBH, I heavily revamped my conaccent in my latest video because the other times, it only sounded like an inarticulate American accent.

Re: Conaccents or invented accents of natlangs

BTW, if you were to hear my conaccent in real life, where would you think the person who said it would be from? I'd think a teenager from California's West Coast, who sometimes liked to talk falsetto for some reason. That'd be my first and best guess, but I suppose there'd be more to it. I don't re...
