Re: griuskant conlang thread

* Total phoneme frequency analysis Upon gathering some passages with over 200000 graphemes from the novels, this Frequentizer app by cedh was used to perform a total phoneme frequency analysis. As a phonemic language, phoneme and symbol are virtually the same thing, thus, arranged in griuskant scrip...

Re: The Quintessential 5th Conversation Thread

In that other natlang that I speak, 2^3 is glossed as "2 power 3".

My conlang expresses powers in a similar manner of 3 words. 2^3 is glossed as "2 mathspower 3". Ie, "mathspower" is not the same word as regular "power".

Re: (L&N) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

Does anyone know of any multilingual news or social media/general info site that display similar translations? For example, I could easily browse bbc, msn or wikipedia, but their webpages in other languages don't actually correspond to the content in English, at least not down to the paragraph level...

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

I assume that many languages might all do this by inflecting the word as it would be if it were that category (so shine-Nom vs shine-PFV). In the realm of conlangs, that isn't always true though. I've seen conlangs that have things like house-PST that result in a noun with tense, instead of a verb....

tbh I don't believe in these categorations by generations as I somehow have relatively few traits that match up accordingly.

I find that I have more similarities with people who actually have the same "life exposure", if anything.

Re: A Taxonomy of Conlanging (help me out)

You decided that if something isn't an auxlang or engelang, it gets sorted into the artlang category. The Gnoli triangle doesn't do that by default. You walked into this problem by assuming that there are only 3 outcomes, and placed it using your own methodology. You can interpret it however you li...

Re: Austronesian alignment

There isn't much stuff about the trigger alignment online (especially since most linguists and conlangers dismiss it) but a general rule is this: Anything that gets you to the source language itself is reliable. For example, in the first post, Wikipedia is a good source because it shows many example...

Re: (EE) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

It's 2018, and we still don't have a social media site that allows one to customise one's own font family, font size, font colour or even background picture. I'd be more interested otherwise.

Yes, I know that some sites had such features in the past, but it's about the here and now.

Re: The Conculture/Conpeople Opinions Thread

if someone in your conculture disobeyed the law, what would happen? Before any enforcement can take place, the locals would rather take matters into their own hands and deal with the wrong-doer accordingly, if one really manages to piss them off so badly. Next question: Inaccessible or hard-to-reac...

Neither category. Could be a loyalist with 1 main conlang after decades. However, my conlang does not have a large recorded vocabulary, its grammar can be summarised into 2 pages and it has no almost no intricacies, quirks or exceptions. Furthermore, it doesn't receive much acclaim. Could be a fille...

Clearly not an auxlang: gr. is not intended to be an auxiliary language. Clearly not an engelang: gr. is in intended to explore some discrete facet of Language or to test a hypothesis That leaves artlang. "Artlang" does not presuppose either naturalistic or unnaturalistic or humour or even "not bei...

Re: A Taxonomy of Conlanging (help me out)

With regards to taxonomy, none of the proposed classification schemes in this thread is able to categorise griuskant appropriately. The simplest suggestion for this imo, is to just label it as a conworld language, or even just use the fictional language box. Well, isn't that half the fun of taxonom...
