Re: The Conculture/Conpeople Opinions Thread

if someone in your conculture disobeyed the law, what would happen? Before any enforcement can take place, the locals would rather take matters into their own hands and deal with the wrong-doer accordingly, if one really manages to piss them off so badly. Next question: Inaccessible or hard-to-reac...

Re: What kind of conlanger are you?

Neither category. Could be a loyalist with 1 main conlang after decades. However, my conlang does not have a large recorded vocabulary, its grammar can be summarised into 2 pages and it has no almost no intricacies, quirks or exceptions. Furthermore, it doesn't receive much acclaim. Could be a fille...

Re: A Taxonomy of Conlanging (help me out)

Clearly not an auxlang: gr. is not intended to be an auxiliary language. Clearly not an engelang: gr. is in intended to explore some discrete facet of Language or to test a hypothesis That leaves artlang. "Artlang" does not presuppose either naturalistic or unnaturalistic or humour or even "not bei...

Re: A Taxonomy of Conlanging (help me out)

With regards to taxonomy, none of the proposed classification schemes in this thread is able to categorise griuskant appropriately. The simplest suggestion for this imo, is to just label it as a conworld language, or even just use the fictional language box. Well, isn't that half the fun of taxonom...

Re: A Taxonomy of Conlanging (help me out)

griuskant : I wanted a language that has all the features that I want. None of the conlangs have them, and natlangs are too difficult for me. This conlang is so easy that even lesser me who ineptly learn foreign languages can master it. Also, ic-ly, it is a language in my conworld. As I consider my...

Re: europidjin? euroblabla? europex?

^Affixes. Theoretically, one can have such a conlang with AB components, whereby A and B are 2 different sets of phonemes.

AB is 1 root word. This is (AB)
B could be another root word that can take affixes, like A, E, I, O or U, so one can get (A)(B).

(AB) is not the same as (A)(B).

Re: Are AIs alive? Do they have souls?

There are AI that could be considered as alive or not, depending on how sentient they are, in my conworld.

Though souls can reside upon an AI, a more appropriate phrase in this context would be "bits of data that would be returned to the universe/source code".

Re: (changed forum) Is Hebrew a Conlang?

I am still curious to be pointed to known conlangs that have the features I have proposed went into making Hebrew. For example conlangs where letter-symbols were assigned multiple meanings (phonemes and number or musical note or whatever) to allow multiple readings of resulting texts. Texts that we...

Re: Dealing with Conlanger's Block

Choose your favourite conlang from the list with all the features that you like.
If there is some missing basic grammar, work on it. Else, it is complete.
Write a novel with that conlang, or describe stuff about the conworld with it.

What is eesier in your language than in Ido? I had a look at griuskant, the writing isnt certainly eesier, nor the pronunciation with its TH. Maybe the grammar, but why? My own conlang certainly is easier for me, but not necessarily for anyone else. The non-abecedarian writing is easier/more effici...

Re: Esperantidos - pros and contras?

As an "auxlang", I find Esperanto difficult and imo it still has many complicated/annoying/useless/unnecessary grammar (Perhaps it fixes stuff from an SAE perspective, but that's not my specialty). Certainly, its derivatives such as Ido tried to eliminate some of its problems, but these auxlangs in ...

That's interesting! Do they use magic to "dance" with their instruments? I could see, for example, rhythmically mobile gongs or lithophones dancing around the player as she moves about the stage... Is it a matter of different material (fibercane vs. natural cane reeds) or just that magic reinforces...
