alternate ways to say "tribal fantasy"

Dragon's dawn is a bit different from the many settings that use the dragon riders trope. One thing is the setting is more....dare I say, "tribal". not like tribal divisions, like face paint, slightly stone age tech (mixed with more advanced things), etc etc. my only real problem is a find the word ...

Re: Terngatta or dragon's earth

if you got any suggestions please tell me. it's kinda new in a sense and i'm still refining it. It feels like you have a lot of players, and a sense of setting, but I don't have a good idea of what the conflict of the setting is. (e.g. the Dragonriders of Pern series, which is also dragon riders in...

Re: Are your main conpeople human or of a different species?

i know i posted one before, but my newest conworld has humans in it (this is the darkest time like indeed). more specifically, humans who can ride on dragons. the twist here is that they don't have those special bonds you see in other dragon rider media. really, the dragon is more like a smart horse...

conworlder first and foremost. conlangs are just a crazy as poop process that i don't even bother anymore. con worlds are more fun anyway [:D].

Re: (EE) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

Well, Mothfolk in question apparently have no problem "... wear(ing) silk from other races than their own. they find it rude to wear your slik." Then you see my point. Either wearing the silk of your dead speciesmates only rises to the level of “rude” for the moths (possible, just probably an impor...

Re: What would humanoid bugs use as mounts?

i just noticed something, a lot of people have been suggesting i use fungus as mounts for some apparent reason. like a i understand most birds eat but...a fungus? sorry your suggestion's great but it's little...strange? i might keep it. Well, there's precedence for real-world bugs cultivating fungu...

Re: Music in my con world, how about yours?

all they do is rub their wings together to make music. they're bug people after all. But unlike actual bugs, since they're people, they could also devise and play actual musical instruments. They could perhaps also sing to the accompaniment of their wing-drone. specifically, me hopaki people tend t...

Re: (EE) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

I don't know if this belongs here but I wanna ask, in my world, the main races are mainly humanoid arthropods of different kinds and a few of them can produce silk. what impact would this have on society? Well, you mentioned the obvious in your world's thread: slavery. What the nature of this slave...

ya know. maybe domestic these smaller animals will help. oh and one last thing, still weird. even weirder if a dragonfly person is piggy back riding a normal one. sorry just no insect mounts for the time being okay i'm just not into it. Re: What would humanoid bugs use as mounts?

So there are 36 or so "types", "kinds", "species", whatever, of sapient, humanoid (presumably this means they stand upright at the very least) arthropods which, I'm assuming, since humans see them as "normal bugs" (which seems to contradict the humanoid bit, as Sal says, we'd notice that they were ...

Re: What would humanoid bugs use as mounts?

some notes: all of them are based on the bugs we see in day to day life, so no beetles being used as mounts as it weird. it's like asking some guy to give you piggy back rides. another thing, this world takes place in modern day earth and humans don't know they exist. they only see them as normal b...
