Re: Nom/Acc vs. Erg/Abs

Föro is perfectly tripartite under all situations, not a single split-ergativity affair here. That seems really unlikely. All languages have at least some features of both ergativity and accusativity in them, even English. Just look at English's ergative verbs: 'I walk" vs. "I walk my dog", "It's c...

Re: Nom/Acc vs. Erg/Abs

Read this. It's an overview of ergativity and its ramifications, and it greatly helps with understanding how and why ergative alignment happens.

Explain your cases more. What do you mean by "like accusative but not really" and "like genitive but wider"?

Re: So, I took one look at somebody's conlang, and realized.

1. Learn IPA. 2. Learn basic linguistics terminology. You can do this by reading other people's conlang's grammars/sketches and looking up terms you don't understand. I would recommend looking at shorter sketches of conlangs as opposed to full-on grammars because looking up all the terms will make g...

Re: Micamo gives in to fads

Ejectives are a form of glottalic consonants. So are implosives. And glottalized resonants. Which does not mean that glottalized resonants are ejectives. Not all glottalic consonants are ejectives.

I would prefer more formal lessons, yeah, but not the generic "oh hmm these are phrases you use to greet people hey we'll teach you how they're constructed grammatically 134139 lessons in k? just take our word for it, k?" and "hmm these people are idiots so we'll teach them like 3 year olds k? mmhhm...

If anyone could do a French guide that'd be great! Or if you don't want to do a guide just a French Q&A? I'd do an English one but I think it's probably pointless, for obvious reasons. :-) I may only be in french III but I'm one of the best in my class and I'm pretty sure I'm good enough to be qual...

Notice the use of "duh".

Did she use "duh" before? Is "duh" used in formal English? Did she use formal English before?

And you referenced a post on page 2. It's already page 8. Things can happen in that time span.
