Re: A Taxonomy of Conlanging (help me out)

As a conlanger I prefer to use a taxonomy from construction kinds... - a priori languages (built from non linguistic first principles) - a posteriori languages ( built from natlangs) - ex nihilo languages (built from scratch) rather than a taxonomy from purposes... - experimental conlangs (for knowl...

Re: Dealing with Conlanger's Block

you can try to write your diary in one of your conlang ... or translate your favorite book ... nothing is worth the use for going deeper ... however, the work in extension is worth the work in depth, the sharp specialists tend to cut off from the world when the generalists are better communicators ....

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

I am thinking of having no intransitive verbs in my conlang. Is this feasible and/or attested in natural languages? I would include a 'dud' object in all sentences that have unspecified objects. For instance: He eats -> He eats something. He cries -> He cries something (i.e. tears) He walks -> He w...

Re: How to design your own script

the coolness of a script is a matter of calligraphy... because any broken script can with a maximal usage becoming something... change the support and it can look as something known... on hard support it look runic or greek, on clay it look sumerian, with soft brush sinic... whatever your choice, ma...

Re: Esperantidos - pros and contras?

And if Zamenhof and the international congress had sat down with the ambition "let's make a conlang that's probably spoken by more people than any other conlang", Esperanto would have been an enormous success by that measure. However, they didn't, so it isn't. Esperanto is a failure judged by its o...

the simplification of natural languages is a branch of the conlanging ... Mostly related to IAL, but also to engelang ... Re: Esperantidos - pros and contras?

I regret the abandonment of the building a priori for the switch to a Romance language ... the false good idea of tackling the European roots on a 17th century language operation a little at random seems tantalizing to attract the average learne, but victim of its success the rigid olygosynthetic pr...

Re: Esperantidos - pros and contras?

The big problem with esperanto is that almost nobody speaks it, which severely limits its utility as a language of international communication. Esperantidos have so far not succesfully addressed this problem; quite the contrary. As a conlang, everyone here would like his creation to be spoken as on...
