Re: RIP cursive handwriting..

I was taught cursive in grade 2 ( Vereinfachte Ausgangsschrift ), but my usual handwriting continues to be terrible to this day. Two years later, I received a small book on improving one's handwriting and the look of one's schoolwork: Inside were a few different scripts, and I soon learned to read a...

Re: The Quintessential 5th Conversation Thread

The question was mostly rhetorical for humor's sake... nonetheless, I don't understand your answer. Right... I was hinting at the massive immigration of North-East Midland dialect speakers which supplied massive workforce to London after the Black Death (1347–1350, IIRC), changing the dialect of Lo...

Re: What did you accomplish today?

I translated this song into the early South-Western dialect of Middle English (from a ca. 1250s London dialect). I erased all references to Christianity if this translation ever were to be used in a special context (Fantasy-RPGs) and a German translation is on its way.

I own the first Sims (Deluxe Edition) with all following expansions, but it only ever ran on my damned x86 devil's machine prior to 2009. I played Sims 2 at some friend's house and eventually got Sims 3 for my iMac in 2009 (plus some expansions later on). ... And now I don't play The Sims anymore, s...

Re: The Quintessential 5th Conversation Thread

I don't use singular they (consciously, but I sometimes slip into it) since it wasn't part of my English Foreign Language education; thus it seems ungrammatical to me, like those bazillions of “alternative ‘pronouns’”. So I use he (as the word human is of masculine gender and I'd rather stress the h...

Re: (L&N) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

1. Modern English still contains words starting < wr >, often homophonous with words starting < r >. wrack/rack, wrap/rap, wrath/rath; wreck/reck, wrest/rest; wright/right, write/rite; wrote/rote; are just some examples. I understand this reflects an originally phonemic (-etic? I think it's -emic?)...

Re: What did you accomplish today?

I had an idea for the health care system in the Ladroman Republic.
One thing may be said: If the state-provided services aren't enough, one can buy additional modules, specific to one's needs, from semi-private insurance companies.

This is a literal shower-thought.

95) What case should we remove first
f) Vocative

(If I may, I propose this order: Voc: (is dropped), Abl: -> Acc, Gen: -> Dat, Nom: -> Abl-Acc)
