Re: What did you accomplish today?

Unfortunately, my knowledge of morphosyntactics isn't too good, and while it could be a time to polish it up, I don't really feel that alignment, you know? But no, I have to use cases. I already speak a caseless language, and it feels empty. According to your needs, I think the best way is to "Go F...

Re: What did you accomplish today?

Why not both? Quite a few languages do that, for instance Greenlandic or Choctaw. It would make the language too polysynthetic for my taste. Not that I don't like polysynthesis, it's just not what I want to do with my language. Another WALS map . Ah, so there you have it. I'm just too Eurocentric f...

Re: What did you accomplish today?

you can consider an Ergative-Absolutive case alignment like that of Basque, or have a lot of locative cases like Finnish, or both (: another way: don't do cases, and let the verb agree with both of the subject and the direct object, and use the "pronoun N"(for things like "my/your/our/his/her/its/t...

Re: What did you accomplish today?

So, go read up on what languages from outside Europe do: I'd recommend starting with Something like Yimas or Nuu-Chah-Nulth, or looking at WALS . Also, please don't bring the whole logic thing up again. There's very little "logic" involved in language at all: There's always more than one way of exp...

Re: What did you accomplish today?

I started working on a proto-language for a family I wish to create. I'm trying to avoid PIE-ness, but forming creative yet logical verbal and noun paradigms simply stumps me. I just keep seeing that Eurocentrism; take for instance this declension for *ą́ki "snake:" nom.sg. ą́ki acc.sg. ą́kį dat.sg....

You have just commited a plagiarism. The Polish Language Council will soon hunt you down.
For some reason, I don't really feel threatened by those guys.

That's a great concept. Really looking forward to seeing some texts. It's also more realistic than mine; I just took Proto-Germanic and applied Polish sound changes onto it, basically stealing from Wenedyk.

I've started compiling a proper document detailing Volarian, but all that morphophonology is so annoying to put down in a table.
