Bring it on.

I was excited to hear this about Peter Capaldi. This makes him the first 50(+) actor to play the Doctor since 1970 and, upon his debut, the second oldest actor to play the Doctor since William Hartnell as the First Doctor (given just under another 3 months and he would have been the oldest). This, apparently, marks a generally trend away from younger and younger actors since the shows beginnings.

I was also excited by the links to other Doctor Who episodes. He's actually been in Doctor Who before, appearing in "The Fires of Pompeii" as Caecilius, the guy who collected the "art" that turned out to be a circuit board. I also liked this link because that was the same episode in which Karen Gillan played one of the Sibylline priestesses before her appearance as Amy Pond.

And that's not the first time that's happened either, with Martha Jones' identical twin cousin appearing in "Army Of Ghosts", both played by Freema Agyeman.

He was also in Torchwood: Children of Earth. Same universe as Doctor Who, so that means he'll have played a Roman, a government minister and the Doctor all in the same universe. Good thing twins turn up EVERYWHERE! [:P]

I'm still really wondering how they'll tie this in to John Hurt's appearance in the last episode though. Maybe they couldn't get him back so went with Capaldi, I don't know. Either way, can't wait! [:D]

I thought for sure the reveal of who would be the 12th Doctor...would at least wait until after they air the 10th and 11th Doctor's specials (half hour of cast interviews, followed by an episode)

...or, novelty of novelties, reveal it when the 12th Doctor's episode airs.

I still think John Hurt could be a version of the Valeyard. Apparently he isn't worthy of, or doesn't use, the name "the Doctor" - and that's the first conclusion that comes to mind. Which means, of course, that it's probably wrong. By I personally would love to get the Valeyard back.

Spoiler:
I was completely disheartened by the news that BBC will not end DW after the 12th regeneration. Nonetheless...
Mr. Capaldi looks like he could be quite a brooding, Valeyard-ish Doctor, if they steer him that way.

I wudna forgit him! An' I didna!

I think "Crud" should also feature in there somewhere. I remember a kids' TV show where he played a butler called Crud (it was sort of Addams Familyish).

He was born in the same town my granddad was born in. Tea mugs* and nuclear power stations!!!

*look at the bottom of any mugs you have in your home. You may have the luck to find "Dunoon" on some.

¡ Twenty-five days!

Oh, the anticipation!

Lambuzhao finally hearing the Doctor Who theme 25 days from now (okay...pretend it's the Doctor Who theme...and pretend that its DW and not Muddy Mudskipper)

{Yes, I really skate in place and magically wear a party hat when I hear the DW theme}

Looked like SyFy said there's be a "new series" soon. Nº 7. Starting next week. I think that's the one I missed last year. Maybe I'll catch up with Peter Capaldi next year. [}:(]

Edit: no news about it in their website. I shall pray to the Doctor, may-he-be-ever-regenerated, that it be so.

ONE MORE DAY!!! I'm seriously very very excited. I've even planned when I have my dinner and tea around this episode. So long since I last saw Doctor Who (I mean only a few months but that's ages since we have to assume that when we're talking about the Doctor we multiply the moments of the human lifespan to match up with the Doctor's so that months could easily be decades).

I'll be traveling when all both Doctor Who and MLP happen, so I'll have to wait until I get home for Thanksgiving on Sunday in order to watch them. So I just may go dark.
