I guess mine is quite simple, however I have been using it for so long :P. I actually played with some words until it sounded cool enough, 2-3 years ago.

Finnish for light, "Valo". I was into Slavics at the time, and added "-ski". But then, I got into Germanics, and decided to combine them.

Valosken

My beloved name ever since.
First, I learned English.
Dann lernte ich Deutsch.
Y ahora aprendo Español.

I just can't get it out of my head that this sounds somehow Lovecraftian.

I humbly ask permission to absorb your username into Culphecc Glyw as Ol-Bofosh, an Elder God who vaguely resembles the offspring of an Ent and the Whomping Willow.

Cybrx Khan was a character in the "conworld" I had for Middle School, which was really actually a history of the earth from 2012 to 140000 or something.

The Cybrx Khan was a great statesman, warrior, uber-handsome, uber-intelligent and uber-amazing dude with mainly Mongolian and Chinese ancestry living in, well, Mongolia, c. 4100 CE after mankind (somehow) lost contact with all other alien races following the great space wars c. 3400 CE resulting in the world existing in an anachronistic semi-feudal state (well, not semi-feudal - basically everything historical just exists at the same time, except with semi-futuristic trappings: so you have Byzantine Cataphracts with laser-powered lamellar armor in one place and Zulu warriors in another and an Imperial China and all that mess). This Cybrx Khan , and his four immediate male descendants, all called Cybrx Khans, would unite the world and discover the ancient lost secret of Atlantis, as this Cybrx Khan (as well as Cybrx Khan III and Cybrx Khan V) was in fact a reincarnation of the last Atlantean Crown Prince, Sabak. And Cybrx Khan(s) do so by talking with a hologram of the Buddha Thoth under a secret gigantic library-building-underground lair thingy buried deep under the Pyramids tha can only be opened with certain artefacts scattered all over the world and the prescence of the 100 or so reincarnations of the Atlantean rulers/viceroys in Atlantean colonies. And other cool and awesome things that sound cool and awesome to my older self because, well, it reminds me of the freedom I had when creating things back then, not restrained by worrying whether things made sense or were cliched or were retarded or not.

And that's how I got my username, cybrxkhan.
I now have a blog. Witness the horror.

I think I think, therefore I think I am.

I always saw myself as a dog. Then I learned how to say 'Dog' in Secwepemctsín.

Here, I am wagging my tail in excitement when I meet all of you. [xP]

tldr; Sqéxe means dog in the Secwepemctsín (Shuswap) language spoken by 250 (or so) people in southern British Columbia.

Can't believe these coïncidences that have started happening on an almost daily basis now... I have _just_ been spending time reading up on "arta" and "asha" and "rta" and whatnot, never having heard of it before today, and here I come to find this.

Username Etymologies

Post by AureusFulgens » Mon 29 Jul 2013, 19:20

How did we come up with all of our usernames?

Mine, AureusFulgens, is Latin. It means "Golden Shining One", I think. It was my general purpose "dummy name" in eleventh grade, for whenever I needed to name a character in a project.

Anyone else?

Edit: Xonen: Threads merged.

I will be dating myself terribly, but when I saw your moniker, this guy

http://www.coolstuffvideos.com/images/spacegi9.JPG

instantly came to mind

His name is Goldar and he's the celestial cousin to Johnny Socko's Flying Robot,
but he might as well be Aureus Fulgens in the :lat: version.

Now, where is my gelfling essence.....essssence.!

masako

-ko - one who is like [from Serbian-Croatian: ko]

A calque of my real surname.

From Halkomelem (Salish), sæsq'ec; "ghost of the woods". (Not "bigfoot" as many assume).

Oh my goodness, I can't believe I haven't posted about my username here.

prettydragoon - Inspired by Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon. It seemed unfair to me that the squids got all the attention, so I wanted to call myself some species of a pretty soldier. And I just so happened to have served as a dragoon in the Army.

Back then, I also thought of drawing a comic about the adventures of a magical girl called Super Soldier Pretty Dragoon. Probably fortunately, nothing ever came of it, other than her catchphrase: "Taste the justice of the Midnight Sun!"
