Can we talk about the US getting rid of net neutrality now?
Yes but those people who care are the same dolts who write "neither pay cares about you".
So is that taken to mean you don't really care about net neutrality?

I'm intending to say something like "the people who harp on this are (usually) the same ones who implicitly endorse it".

Noooo! The horror :(

To be fair, those are packages of "extra data" rather than groups of websites that you're allowed to visit, but theoretically, it could get that way: "Buy our middle package and get 200+ websites including Facebook and Wikipedia!"

Would CBB be a $10 a month add-on? [xP]

They're gonna turn the internet into what cable is like.
It could mean that they'll make it so you can't visit websites that make ISPs look bad or prevent you from having access to work arounds like VPNs set in countries with net neutrality.

I have some free time this morning! Perhaps I’ll saunter over to the café next door (Bread Etc.) and have a hazelnut pain au chocolat and some coffee and scribble down stuff about Híí person marking.

It’s so difficult to leave my bed though. The cat is being all purry and affectionate, and it’s so...

I do agree with you on the actual issue. Axing net neutrality sounds like a clear win for Verizon et al and a clear loss for us.

I'm very much hoping that it won't end up like cable tv! Cable tv sucks. Apart from the local channels I could get free over the air, I can only stomach perhaps one or two of the paid channels. It doesn't help that most of those are snore-fest sports channels. The only channels I would actually miss if I cut the cable would be the world news channels. Cos Lord knows you can't trust the spinmeisters over at CNN & FOX to tell anything straight or to offer unopinionated news prepared by actual non-political journalists who actually know how to do journalism.

Okay, now the "SJW" discussion has started getting a tad heated, so I'd suggest dropping it for now.

While the original discussion was actually surprisingly civil, discussing the term in context, bringing up its use as a pejorative term can only lead to arguments that I don't see going particularly well.
Fair enough!

I've noticed that when I'm logged in, more often than not, my username doesn't show up at the bottom of the page. Sometimes it will even say that no registered users are viewing the page. Has anyone else experienced this? It doesn't seem to prevent me from posting, which is good, but I am curious about what might be causing this.

I think you probably clicked the "hide my status" button when logging in.
In unrelated news, I stared reading Check, Please yesterday, which may or may not have anything to do with Sectori's avatar. I feel bad reading it; I by having an awful personality haven't ever really gotten to make the friendships that it shows.

Oh, really? I didn't even know that was an option. Where can I find that setting?

Don't be so hard on yourself. I sincerely doubt you have an "awful personality". You're still very young, even younger than me. I know it doesn't feel good to not get along with most people, at least off of the internet, but your life's far from over. I know this is kind of generic, cheesy advice, and I was skeptical when people would tell me this when I was younger, but trust me, you will likely find at the very least one or two people in your life that you do get along with. If you plan on going to college, that's a good place to meet like-minded people.

If you go into the User Control Panel --> Board Preferences tab, you can change the "Hide my status" from "Yes" to "No". There's also a check-box for it beneath your username and password when you log in.

I keep my online status hidden because I'm embarrassed about how often I'm on here. [:$]

Apparently it was already on "no". Hmm.

Well, I got to change my language (from British to American English, which hardly makes a difference) and time zone.

Two Ronnies sketch script that I love now:

RC: Good morning!
RB: Morning!
RC: My name is Starling.
RB: Mr Starling
RC: Of Starling Styling
RB: Mr Starling of Starling Styling
RC: Or of Stirling
RB: Oh, Mr Starling of Starling Styling Stirling. Wanting?
RC: Mr Ponting.
RB: Mr Ponting?
RC: Of Ponting Punting
RB: Oh, Mr Ponting of Ponting Punting. (Looks through files)
RC: Does their seem to be something wrong, then?
RB: Yes, I was just hunting for Ponting of Ponting Punting. We've got a Newing Brewing, or we've got a Gilling and Goring Drilling and Boring, or we've got a Delessing Delousing, or we've got a Manning Minning.
RC: Minning?
RB: Er, meaning Mining. (Man walks past them)
BOTH: Morning, morning.
MAN: Morning.
RB: But no sign of Ponting Punting.
RC: Erm, this is the Bailding Building?
RB: Yes, this is the Bailding Building, formerly the Fielding Wilding Bailding Building
RC: Fielding and Wilding?
RB: Yes, Fielding Moulding and Wilding Welding but what with Fielding folding and Wilding melding with Bailding has become a Bailding holding.
RC: And there is no Ponting Punting?
RB: No, we've got a Keeling and Greeling Wheeling and Dealing.
RC: I have a feeling there's a failing in your filing.
RB: But of course this is not the only Bailding Building. (Picks up a sign on the desk) We have branches in Barking, Dorking, Woking and in Epping, Wapping and Tooting.
RC: Don't I know it! I've been hunting Ponting Punting in every blinking Bailding Building standing!! (chuckles)
RB: Astounding!
RC: Hopping and skipping from Chipping to Epping, upping and epping and whipping through Wapping, shooting through Tooting, stealing through Ealing, backing to Barking, the parking in Barking is shocking, no joking. (Takes out pack of cigarettes)
RB: No smoking.
RC: You're better off parking and biking to Peking than banking on parking in Barking! (chuckles)
RB: I think so.
RC: Then making for Dorking, walking to Woking and riding in Reading.
RB: What about calling on Mr Carling of Carling Curling?
RC: What's Carling of Carling Curling got to do with Starling of Starling Stirling?
RB: (Well, or Mr Notting of Nutting and netting and nitting. I here they're knighting nutting.)
RC: Well, I don't care if they're knotting Mr Nutting in his own netting and knighting! He's got nothing I'm wanting! I'm wanting Ponting of Ponting Punting!!!!
RB: Well, I don't care if you're panting for Ponting of Ponting Punting!!! By keeping carping and blaming your flaming flim-flamming on our failing filing, you're heading for a hiding Starling old darling!! I could give you a stuffing, a roughing, a duffing-up and a cuffing as easy as winking. What are you thinking?
RC: I'm thinking you've been drinking!!
RB: (shutting files) This is my last warning!! (He hits RC on the head with the file).
RC (leaves): Morning!!!

The Two Ronnies are up there with Dave Allen, I think, for greatest comedians ever.

Reading through that I could just hear their voices in my head acting this out, it was so funny I actually laughed out loud. It actually sounds like a spoken version of a patter song, a genre I love to bits (incidentally I found out only a couple of days ago that the Major-General's Song contains a meta line where the MJ declares (having been stuck for a rhyme) that he can "whistle all the airs from that infernal nonsense Pinafore!")
