First change: "do" is no longer needed for negative imperatives.

Second change: Adverbs come at the end of verb phrases.

Can we reinstate you/y'all or similar distinction between 2nd.sing and 2nd.pl?
And split 1st.sing between exclusive of hearer ("we") and inclusive ("wu" or "wiu")? Verbs congogate the same whether inc or exc.

You can make pretty much whatever changes you'd like! The latest version of the current text is in my last post. [:)]

If you guys want to make a bunch of phonological changes, I can't stop you, but the more changes we make each round, and especially the more phonological changes we make, the sooner we'll probably have to find a new text.

First change: Elements of a verb phrase before the main verb tend to come together into one word.

Second change: [nn np(ʰ) iːíː ee oːɪ́ t͡ʃʼt͡ʃʰ] > [nː mp iːjíː eː oːwɪ́ t͡ʃʼət͡ʃʰ]. Grassman's Law, as well as a version for ejectives, applies.

New Text since no one's done anything. From the WP page of the Arab Spring

<As of May 2018, only the uprising in Tunisia has resulted in a transition to constitutional democratic governance.>

I'm curious; do you actually have [ʌprizɪŋ] for "uprising", or was that a typo?

First change: Stress is marked in the IPA transcription. Diphthongs have also been explicitly marked.

Second change: The names of years are treated as single words. [ˈtwɛni eɪ̯ˈtin] > [twɛnijeɪ̯ˈtin]

[æz əv meɪ̯ twɛnijeɪ̯ˈtin | ˈoʊ̯nli ðə ˈʌprizɪŋ ɪn tuˈniʒə hæz rɪˈzəltɪd ɪn ə trænˈzɪʃn̩ tu kɑnstɪˈtuʃn̩əl dɛmoʊ̯ˈkrætɪk ˈgəvr̩nənts]

yep that was a typo

First change: "As of" is treated as a single word

Second change: month comes after the year

[æzəv twɛnijeɪ̯ˈtin meɪ̯| ˈoʊ̯nli ðə ˈʌpraɪ̯zɪŋ ɪn tuˈniʒə hæz rɪˈzəltɪd ɪn ə trænˈzɪʃn̩ tu kɑnstɪˈtuʃn̩əl dɛmoʊ̯ˈkrætɪk ˈgəvr̩nənts]

First change: Before vowel-initial words, the definite article contracts. For example, [ðə ˈʌpraɪ̯zɪŋ] > [ˈðʌpraɪ̯zɪŋ]. The indefinite article falls out of use everywhere.

Second change: Monophthongization occurs. More specifically, [eɪ̯ oʊ̯ aɪ̯] > [eː oː æː].

[ˈæzəv twɛnijeːˈtin meː | ˈoːnli ˈðʌpræːzɪŋ ɪn tuˈniʒə hæz rɪˈzəltɪd ɪn trænˈzɪʃn̩ tu kɑnstɪˈtuʃn̩əl dɛmoːˈkrætɪk ˈgəvr̩nənts]

Interesting thread!
I think the spoken texts are no longer recognizable as English. ( The written ones are, though).

So you’ve reached the OP’s endpoint.
But I hope it keeps going!

There have been many new texts since the original, with the second text being introduced in January 2015. The most recent text was just introduced yesterday, and is still quite easily recognizable as having been derived from English, both in spelling and pronunciation.
