How is that relevant? Why should the fact that not all English animal names are single morphemes stop us from proposing different derivations for words for those animals in some hypothetical language?

Take "warthog", for example. The English name is transparently derived from "wart" + "hog", but why couldn't some other language derive the name of the animal from some other words?

warthog = elephant + boar
