(Post #9997.)

<pealu tseanărïtse>
[pe̯alu t͡se̯anə'rɨt͡s]

<pealu>
[pe̯alu]
  • The word comes from Classical Latin lapillus.
<tseanărïtse>
[t͡se̯anə'rɨt͡s]
  • The word is a neuter singular noun. The neuter was preserved from Classical Latin.
  • /e̯a/ < CL /ɪ/.
  • /t͡s/ < CL /k/.
  • /ɨ/ is not from CL /ɪ/ or /iː/, although the situation is apparently a bit confusing.
  • The initial syllable in CL was /jɛ/.

Do /n/ and /r/ in the second word come from /n/ and /r/, respectively, in Classical Latin?

It's made of two words that are independent in Vulgar Latin

(If you look at the Learran thread, <ïtse> is from metipse)

To be clear, it comes from iecur (iecinoris specifically), and it's not a kidney stone. It's some sort of bodily stone though.

not quite. Remember that it's IECUR. Big hint: liver is just <ficatu>. tseanar was used for a nearby organ that's closely associated with the liver.
