Re: I fail.

I've been trying since I first found the Language Creation Kit years ago. And by years ago I mean over 5 years ago. Of course, my biggest issue is that I end up getting distracted by other things or busy, but I've also been having the issue of not liking what I come up with. My advice is to just lea...

Re: Conlangs based on natlangs: justifying their history

Thanks everyone! Etherman: Thanks! I went a-Googling soon after I first saw this comment. I can send you an article I found that brings up interesting points, if you're into it. Sectori: Thanks for the Italian examples! taylorS: This is awesome, and what I'd been mostly doing with my conlang was rep...

Re: This Makes me Angry

ETA: Argh I didn't notice the date of this thread! Sorry for zombiefying it. Actually, when I had seen this thread earlier, I wanted to point out exactly what you said about the doctor, but didn't know how to state it. Also, zombies are awesome if they aren't attacking. Thank you! (And, ah, usernam...

Re: This Makes me Angry

So I read about this man who, I personally believe, is deserving of some sort of similar punishment because he has: 1) done unnecessary surgery on young people that could (and, concerning what I read, probably will) mess them up forever both physically and psychologically, as what he did was -IMHO-...

Re: Conlangs based on natlangs: justifying their history

^ Thank you for the advice about the sound changes! That was really helpful.

(And gah, I'm already dreading the verbs. Me and verbs don't get along without much sweat on my side  )

Re: Conlangs based on natlangs: justifying their history

Thanks for the info! I'll check out your conlang, the Georgian part sounds especially interesting. ;-) My biggest issue is mostly justifying that, with those changes ocurring in function of the speakers, that my conlang would retain a neuter gender and declensions. Of course, it's a conlang, so I ha...

Conlangs based on natlangs: justifying their history

I hope I can word my question correctly. I am working on a Romance conlang, and I'd like for it to retain some features (e.g. neuter nouns) existent in Latin, but not found in most current Romance languages. Is there a good way to justify this? Many of these changes come from Vulgar Latin, as do lot...

Re: Germanic Esperanto

Here's the link to Folkspraak . I just Googled "Germanic auxlangs", and in addition to Folkspraak (above), I found a few links that might help you. I'm no Germanics expert (Romance is how I roll), but here they are: This page has a bunch of auxlang links. Folkspraak seems to be only purely Germanic ...

Re: Conlangs on Nation Sates forum

I apologize if I'm bumping an otherwise dead thread.

To join those forums, you should register to create a Nation in the main game first. After that, you may log in and post on the forums using your nation's name (if I recall correctly). Hope I helped.

Re: Germanic Esperanto

Basically you're saying that you'd like a language that is a mash of Germanic languages, or one that is a mash of different languages with an emphasis on Germanic? If you Google for "Germanic conglangs" or "Germanic based conlangs" you might be able to find something.

Re: Linguistic Resources

http://paleoglot.blogspot.com/ - a (sometimes controversial) blog about Proto-Indo-European, Etruscans, Minoans etc. This seems interesting, but do you know how reliable it is? I'm lurking about and it seems good so far but I'd hate to read something wrong and believe it. I don't know how many of y...

Re: NaNoWriMo 2010 anybody?

I'd like to, but I've never managed to win NaNo and I don't think I'll manage this year. We'll see! If I do, I'm thinking about including my conlang in there somewhere.
