Re: My Shitty LitRPG Thing

I found this whole description interesting to read. After sleeping on it, I wondered about this part: The higher the Tier you go, the more the quest (and the resulting Titles and talents) will be tailored to your particular character. But it's possible for the Director to give even a T1 character so...

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

Hello. While developing my protolang's phonology, I've been wondering: are proto-languages likely to develop allophony from the very beginning or not? […] […] That said, since proto-languages are just languages, it doesn't seem likely that they wouldn't have had some sort of allophony going on, so ...

Thanks. That'll come in handy in my future projects. Synaeresis explains null-onset [i̥V → j̊V] and fully explains [uV → wV]. Are changes like [ʨi̥ː.ɑ → ʨɑː] included as well?
Yes, I'd say so.

What's the proper term for changes like [i̥ → j̊]?
Hmm, I don't know a name for that kind of change, at least with no other context. "Desyllabicization"?

If the change is conditioned so it only occurs through contact with other vowels, that is called synaeresis.

Re: Silvish

I'm having difficulties figuring out how I want to mark stress in Silvish. The orthography is supposed to be largely French-influenced (the idea being that Silvish speakers who are only literate in French will find it easier to pick up the written form) but for stress, I took a more Italian route. S...

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

I don't fully understand the question. It appears to be about phonology, but you've presented a good chunk of the background info through orthography. For phonology questions, it's best to stick to the underlying sounds. For example, you say at one point that <ι> and <υ> become semivowels. Which one...
