Re: Collaborative conlang

Since you brought up the idea of a collaborative conlang, I could really use some help developing mine. If anyone is interested in working on an auxlang collaboratively please message me.

Re: Mandarin Latin Hybrid language

Thanks for the feedback! I think I might go for it and see how it turns out. Do share it when you do. :) I like the idea of using older versions of chinese. Though you could make it that a revivalist group of latin speakers had descendants that moved to china and ended up speaking a creolized form ...

Re: Unnamed Mandarin Latin Hybrid Conlang

That's a very interesting article. It's a bit bizaare to see that word be similar in so many languages, however that's a pretty good reason why.

Re: Unnamed Mandarin Latin Hybrid Conlang

I found something interesting. The word for mom in Latin is mom, but the word for it in chinese is mama. I thought :lat: mater , or more familiar mamma :?: Where did you happen to find :lat: mom ? Suffix marking plural: men This suffix always made me think of :lat: 3rd declension neuter plurals suc...

Why? Neither latin or madarin have that.
That was a mistake from when I copied information over from my notes. I will be using mandarins word order, I will edit the post to reflect that.

Re: Unnamed Mandarin Latin Hybrid Conlang

/t͡ɕ/ /ʂ/ The selection of these two without either /ɕ/ or /tʂ/ is a bit strange since you would expect alveopalatals to pattern with each other, or retroflexes to pattern with each other. I think it would be better to choose either one set (/t͡ɕ/ /ɕ/, or /tʂ/ /ʂ/) or have all four in your inventor...

Why do you use the same letter for different phonemes? Like English doesn't? :D It's not always necessary. Why do you use the same letter for different phonemes? I know html fairly well, if you decide to create the website yourself, and you need any help just send me a message. I would highly suggest learning html though. Its very useful, and it isn't that hard to learn. Just look up a few tutorials and guides on google.

Unnamed Mandarin Latin Hybrid Conlang

I have made some progress on my unnamed Mandarin-Latin conlang, and I figured I would post it. For those who don't know it is meant to be an auxlang that is some kind of latin mandarin hybrid. The idea is to provide some mutual intelligibility to speakers of both mandarin and european languages. I t...

Correct me if in wrong, but wouldn't your expiriencer case and stimulus case just be subject and object cases? If so I would think that would free up your word order in sentences, was that the intention? I am curious about the grammar in your conlang, can you post information on it, or has the gramm...
