Re: Famous CBB Quotes Thread

Similarly, while of course your superbeings might have some limits - a vegetarian superbeing might not kill cows for you to eat - it's not unreasonable to think that at least some of them might not require you to submit a complete ranking of all your film preferences to make sure you agree of the r...

Re: Random phonology/phonemic inventory thread

Can’t sleep so decided to post this. Re: What did you accomplish today?

I think the difference as is traditionally defined is one of degree - an isolating language shows a tendency to use separate words over morphology, while an analytic language is the logical endpoint of that - a language which never uses morphology ever. No. The two terms are distinct, although the ...

schwas assimilate to the quality of a following vowel over a glottal stop, so e.g. it's now mi‘irən "my habits, practices" rather than mə‘irən. Love this. Words with i‘i u‘u look oh-so pretty, and mi‘irən proves it. [<3] Limestone 4.0 is full of words ending in stuff like -ii’i -ao’o , etc., becaus...

I don’t really read fantasy, because the mediaeval settings that seem to predominate are not appealing...

I know TLFKAT is an acronym for “The Language Formerly Known As T-something”
Tlííeno
but by now repeated usage has made it the language’s new name.
How do you pronounce it?
[tl̩fkat]
“Tifflecat”
“Toffeecat”

Take your pick! [:D]

Re: What did you accomplish today?

In accordance with my policy of never really making permanent decisions for any of my conlanging projects, here is my latest idea for the vowel inventory of TLFKAT: /a e i ɨ/ Now, TLFKAT has lots and lots of labialised consonant phonemes, and the four vowels are realised [wa we wi u] following such ...
