Re: Random phonology/phonemic inventory thread

The recent threads by Davush and VaptuantaDoi have been giving me ideas lately. Here’s a tiny phonology I like: p k ʔ f s h o i a Fairly free phonotactics including the following: p k can be geminated f s can be syllabic, long or short Long vowel chains are permitted with glide allophones of i o

Re: Random phonology/phonemic inventory thread

Spent what free time I had over the last two days toying with this Arabic-inspired phonology. I like many things about it, not least the romanisation. I want to come up with another romanisation that doesn’t disallow digraphs unlike this one. /m n ŋ/ m n ṅ /t t͡ɕ k q ʔ/ t ć k q ’ /b d d͡ʑ g ɢ/ b d j...

Re: Leeta language

Lack of copula also brings interesting syntactic complexity, because it cannot be compounded with an auxiliary. One cannot say 'I want [to] be Y.', but there has to be a distinct verb 'to wannabe' or a subordinate clause 'I want that I [am] Y.'. Using the verb ‘to become’ to form the desiderative i...

Re: The Kazumbe Language

I realize you only have two affricates, but it's awkward for me to see them grouped with plosives. Otherwise, it looks good. I often see them group with plosives in other phoneme charts, so I did, too. It’s not an issue. Grouping affricates with plosives makes perfect sense if they behave like plos...

For what it's worth, I'd like to announce that I, for one, am certainly interested. This is a rather well-written thread on a language that, as you pointed out in the first post, there's not exactly an overly abundant wealth of material available on. Unfortunately, however, I can't really commit to...

@DesEsseintes your time is running out somewhat, do you have any estimates of when it will be done? My apologies. I’m indeed running a bit late.
