Re: Lexember 2019

Lots of catching up: Lexember 8-14: a full week of PNG crops. Although the urheimat of Proto-Takur is Totally-Not-New-Guinea, I'm not totally sure yet how common any of these foods would be to Tuoken and Ottóxsh Gétker speakers. Either way, this makes it easy to create some more stable roots Tuoken ...

Re: Lexember 2019

Somehow it's been a full year since last Lexember, huh? I'm still working on the same lang's but they've been through some changes - I think for the first few days I'm going to reuse the same derivations as last year, but with my updated sound changes: Lexember 1 2018: ce3nao3pu1 'king, absolute mon...

Re: The Takur languages

Hi everyone! This update took longer than I expected, but I’m back with exciting grammar things A History of Eastern Takur Verbs, or, a Tale of Two Coverbs Eastern Takur languages such as Ottoxsh Getkerna and Tuoken have very different verbal systems than their Western counterparts (e.g. Hátu’s Mánn...

The Takur languages

Hi all! Long-time listener, (basically) first time caller. This thread will be about a family of languages I’ve been working on since late 2017. I started working on Proto-Takur, or Project Lily, in this speedlanging challenge in 2017 , but coming on 2 years now, it’s by no means a speedlang anymore...

Re: Lexember 2018

A little late (as per usual, I guess), but here you go: Lexember 2/3: Gizker ikábtishé /ikábtiʃé/ 'to dry up', and -ɣókábtish, -ɣókábtishé /ɣókábtiʃ, ɣókábtiʃé/ 'drought' From Proto-Takur *es, nominalizing prefix + *kóbtes 'dry', and a reduplication *kókóbtes reanalyzed as a verb, respectively Aá go...

Re: Lexember 2018

I'm going to be joining in, hopefully for the whole month this time. I'll be jumping around within the Takur family. Lexember 1: Tuo4ken1 ce3nao3pu1 /t͡se˨na͡o˨pu˦/ 'king, absolute monarch, emperor' from Proto-Takur *déene 'one', + *opódd(é) 'man' Borrowed into Gízker as tsenaapó 'emperor' EDIT: Now...

Re: Lexember 2017

Finally catching up on Lexember - I fiddled with the diachronics for U:ku:jéθétá: and Dékrena so now they're closer related - I'll go back and edit the last posts to show this...eventually. Lexember 3: Proto-Takur *qóthoéq, bird → Tōkretū /qo˥tʉ˩˥/ → U:ku:jéθétá: /xwétʼʷáː/ → Dékrena /hétʰea/ Lexemb...
