I'm almost done with my torch but it's running late. I'll wrap it up tomorrow morning and send it to kiwikami.

Re: CBB Conlang Relay X

I'll be using either Proto-Kame or Proto-Mwambam. Perhaps Modern Mwamban but it is unlikely to be ready in time.

Re: CBB Conlang Relay X (sign-up open)

I wanna participate but i don't know which language yet. Since i'm somewhat late i'll be placed towards the end anyway, but i'm still asking: Ideally i'd wanna have my turn after the Oct. 20th, but i'll most likely still be able to do it any date after Oct. 1st.

Re: Altlang Ideas Discussion

Maybe if you couple that with intense derivation based on prefixes and weaken word final elements you could make ablaut both primary and triconsonantal.

Re: What did you accomplish today?

AFAICT all romlangs mark gender in articles so that's not really surprising. Marking gender only in articles is a more interesting development. In my opinion marking gender only in articles would make the articles less likely to be dropped, due to having more semantic load. Like for instance vernacu...

Re: CBB Conlang Relay IX

How on earth did it conclude Proto-Kame was Slovak?? I'd've expected something uralic or turkic, which are the usual answers i get when i ask about aesthetics.

Re: Yay or Nay?

If you think they warrant being analyzed as classes, please do so. Dividing them into classes and explaining each classes' behavior is, if possible, much more descriptive than a plain "irregular" label.

Re: (L&N) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

So there’s syntactic based marking like good old nom/acc and erg/abs and the likes, where some NPs are cast to S/A/P which then receive case marking as appropriate. There’s semantic based marking, where this intermediate step is skipped and nouns are marked based on their semantic roles (agent, pat...

Re: Yay or Nay?

Do the points 4 and 5 actually exist in natlangs? The closest I can think of is PIE accent, but that's so complicated and specific you can't really say that one pattern favours one word class over the other. There might be a language out there which behaves like this, but I would first wonder how t...

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

I've only ever seen the sprachbund in question referred to as "South-Asian" or "Indian", which is a common term for the region and definitely not to be confused with the SE sprachbund. As far as I can tell "Indosphere" refers to the wider cultural zone of Indic influence (e.g. Thai is in the Indosp...

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

There is another sprachbund in the Indian subcontinent though. On the other hand I'm unaware of a conventionalized name for it. Indosphere strikes me as a cultural division, so i'm fairly certain it's not the correct term for a linguistic sprachbund.
