Re: Introducing Vyrmag

Do you currently have anything on phonotactics, phonology, etc? Also I'm curious to see how complex words or concepts would be translated into Vyrmag.

Re: (C&C) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

Does anyone have any good online resources on how to design a realistic climate for your conworld? Everything I read is extremely complex.

Re: Completely unbiased auxlang

I feel as if this phonology has some difficult sounds for speakers of languages like Pirahã and Rotokas, thus I propose this inventory for the auxlang:

/t~k/

/a/

Distinguishing words may be difficult... [:S]

Sample sentence:

Ta taka ka ta kata takaka!

misora wrote: How do you pronounce ɣ, I'm still new to IPA.
/ɣ/ is the symbol for a voiced velar fricative. So basically you place the back of your tongue on your soft palate "velum" where /k/ and /g/ are make it a fricative consonant. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voiced_velar_fricative [:)]

Re: (L&N) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

Does anyone know of any books / pdfs on the languages of Vanuatu archipelago? Sadly the articles on the Wiki are rather scarce... :(

How to Develop a Tone System?

I've been playing around with making an African-like lang this afternoon, and decided to try to give it a three tone system. Initially I began assigning every word a random tone value, but then I began to think, how could I develop this through sound changes? Any links or help would be greatly appre...

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

Going from my protolang to a daughter language /p/ goes under a unconditioned shift to into /ɸ/, leaving my fricative system as /ɸ f s/. I know /ɸ/ and /f/ are almost indistinguishable, do I correctly presume that it would be highly likely for /ɸ/ > /f/ or vice-versa? [:)]

As stated before i suggest you learn the IPA, it looks intimidating initially, but you'll get the hang of it.

Re: Superweapons in Your Conworld / Connation

In the Divine Plane, pretty much every single person is a superweapon. When the average decently strong person can crack mountains with their fists or someone can build a 70-story tall giant robot that is actually a brothel and which powers itself from the sexual release of its clients, it's kind o...

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

Is this a plausible consonant inventory? I'm working on my first conlang i'm actually getting into it's supposed to be very reminiscent of Thai, Laotian and other similar Asian languages Plosives - /p t tɕ k b d/ Nasal - /m n ŋ/ Fricatives - /f s h/ Lateral - /l/ Trill / Tap - /r~ɾ/ Semi-Vowels - /w...
