Re: Fidalang. Need an opinion and a list of semantic primes

This will be hard to manage. Is there a dictionary manager?

People often use the Swadesh List.
Yes, that's what I wanted! :) Thanks!

Re: Fidalang. Need an opinion and a list of semantic primes

I need a list of semantic primes so that I can start working on the language's vocabulary. Is there such a list? There is no such thing as a semantic prime, in the sense of a fundamental meaning that is always signified by an underived word. Although of course it is generally true that commonplace ...

Re: Fidalang. Need an opinion and a list of semantic primes

May I suggest a distinction between an inclusive and exclusive 1PL as it can have a big impact if you want it to be very understandable. I don't quite understand what you mean. The reason I added this is because in conversations sometimes one says "But we..." and the other party said "Who we?". Thi...

Fidalang. Need an opinion and a list of semantic primes

Here 's my conlang after many changes. I've been working hard on this. Every time I hear someone say something, I'd think about how it would be grammatically said in my language. Such as that "make me a sandwich" and stuff like that. Please check my language and tell me what you think. I also need ...

Re: Problems with my conlang

I'm perplexed at the idea of making a language that English speakers could speak with "least thinking as possible; just shooting words out of their mouths", and then packing it with every element that an English speaker would struggle with. Gender, case, politeness distinctions... are you trying to...

Problems with my conlang

Hello. I've been here already, but it has been a while too. I'd like to just update on some things about my conlang and ask for some help. So basically, my conlang is a template for many dialects in a fictional world, and a language for better contextual translation and interpretation of the Holy Bi...

Re: Idea of a language

Wow! Interesting! I've found lots of cases! I'm going to use all of them! [xP] Kidding. Maybe some of them. This should really be in languages.

Re: Idea of a language

Actually, ablative doesn't exist in Croatian language, but I just thought that there is supposed to be a case for assignments. Where can I learn more about the real ablative? This probably means that I should have a new case called assignment. However, genitive is really a case to describe what some...

Re: Idea of a language

I would suggest not doing "correlatives" the way Esperanto does it. Have a look at some natural languages http://www.zompist.com/kitgram.html and its translations 1 , 2 . The reason why I like the Esperanto correlatives is because of the "ties" to solve the problem of "Whose car is this? This car i...

Re: Idea of a language

In my language, genitive is used to describe of who someone is or of what something is made or how much what there is. Isn't ablative used in assignments? That's a rather unusual use of Genitive, I don't know that that's how the term is generally defined. As for your use of the word "assignments" I...

Re: Idea of a language

Genitive is often used for the possessor in possessive construction and ablative is often a spatial case meaning 'from'. I gave you the link to a web page and links to its translation into German and Italian to see the "correlative" tables of some natlangs. I don't really understand the "whose car"...

Re: Idea of a language

If you want a "the most information in the littlest space" language, I'd suggest you to take a peek at Ithkuil Ithkuil seems to be very complex! I need an audio/visual tutorial. [xD] Your language looks so auxlang-ish, however. I wouldn't really suggest it for a videogame, but it's up to you I was ...

Idea of a language

Hello. I'm new here and this is my first post. I've been thinking of creating my own language for a long while and made lots of little notes in my notebooks. The reason why I'm still building a language is because the languages I know have problems like "Make me a sandwich" which has multiple contex...
