Re: Any interest in starting a collaborative project?

I am glad about everybody else's input and continue to conlang and conworld for the collab myself, just too busy to make posts presenting the things right now, but I will soon again! [:)]

Re: (L&N) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

It might not be the right corner to ask, but I think the right people are likely to read it here, so I want to just go ahead and ask - has anybody here tried their hand at Hungarian and does have any good resources? I'd like a book, and possibly some good online resources just to add in the mix and ...

Re: Any interest in starting a collaborative project?

A question: How far back do our languages go? I'd like to help with conlangs for this project, but I want to know if the proto-languages all have to date from the beginning of history. And are we going to wait to start our conlangs until we've gotten the history fleshed out well? It would be amazin...

Re: Any interest in starting a collaborative project?

Also, would this map (this one leaves out the mammoth steppe bordering on the tundra in the eastern half), correctly assume where you want your concultures to be placed? https://i.ibb.co/Z8Lbh1Q/map-climate-overhaul.png Nachtuil's Kodikeng were fairly easy to place on the Oratsem pensinsula, while k...

Re: Any interest in starting a collaborative project?

I think I would leave that to people who know more about the formation of continents / mountain ranges than me, in particular the creator of the original map, k1234567890y. However, I've already amended a map version where I tried to implement your suggestions, including the mammoth steppe, which pr...

Re: Any interest in starting a collaborative project?

Thank you for such a detailed response, I will implement the advice and then post the overhauled map, and ask what everybody is thinking [:)]

Re: Any interest in starting a collaborative project?

Thanks for your reply Zekoslav! That cold desert makes a lot of sense to me, I will make the part of the E2 quadrant to the east of the mountain range a (cold) desert, or do you reckon it would extend further east? To the east, I would then probably have some cold steppe for quite a bit. I'd origina...

Re: Any interest in starting a collaborative project?

I've now just to see for myself as a trial run filled in where I think the major zones would go based on Mark Rosenfelder's "Planet Construction Kit", with an admittedly less than ideal colouring scheme, which was one of the first few google hits I got, apparently the one used by the US Naval Academ...

Re: Any interest in starting a collaborative project?

A question about the map: I assume the darker shaded area are not only mountains, but also highlands? I'm trying my hand at a bit of climate, just shading the white, low areas according to climate zone. However, I doubt that the result will be very usable, as it's my first time doing something like ...

Re: Any interest in starting a collaborative project?

Yeah, no rush, Nachtuil! There will still be plenty to do when you will have more time on your hands again [:)]

Thread opener MirandaBrawner hasn't been on here for a few weeks now? I hope there's no serious reason behind it, but also just plain lack of time or something like that!

Re: BLSL thread

Verbs of motion and locative verbs Verbs of motion encoding direction are formed by using the dynamic verbal ending “ma”, suffixed onto locative case postpositions (as well as combinations thereof); similarly, so-called “locative verbs” are formed by suffixing the stative endings “hɛ” and “he”, res...

Re: BLSL thread

I'm in the mood for some mood! Imperative-jussive mood The sole true morphological mood divorced from the tense-aspect suffixes is the imperative-jussive mood, which is formed by suffixing the personal pronoun to the verb, deleting “ma”; only “-ma”-verbs can be used in this mood. Cause I haven't tou...

Are we actually assuming earth size for the planet?
I personally would assume it i.e. it is an alternative Earth.
Okay yeah, me too, just wanted to make sure!

I am liking duck-billed dinosaurs more and more, though they would need, I guess, a very warm habitat. Possibly equitarial rainforests would do?

Re: Any interest in starting a collaborative project?

The suggestion of elks in the north and dinosaur-like creatures in the south sounds good to me! However, I would propose that we do not overdo it with the dinosaur-like creatures, so as to not make the world *too* different from earth. But duck-billed dinosaurs in various sizes, and possibly with di...

Re: Any interest in starting a collaborative project?

Would you like to have horses or horse-like animals that can be ridden, or maybe just an animal that can be domesticated and used to pull carts, but for whatever reason not be ridden?

Re: BLSL thread

Let's continue with the verbs, which I'd already started, to come to aspect and tense. This will actually be really straightforward! Tense and aspect Tense and aspect are marked by suffixes on the verb; while the markers, each of which is specific to either tense or aspect, most often occur individu...

Can I just also ask you - what time frame do you have in mind for that incarnation of the language, would that be the modern times (roundabout same as our current present)?

Re: BLSL thread

I made a minor change in the section on grammatical number, deleting the reduplicated form as generic plural for animates, and at the end of the same section added a whole new way of saying "all" nominally (in addition to the adverbial way, which I think I hadn't presented before either).
