Re: Lexember 2019

Lexember 8: /'bo.ki/ n hunter-gatherer Derived from the lative case particle /bo/ and /ki/, a derivational suffix for "person"; basically a person who is "after something". To further differentiate between hunter and gatherer, the object the /boki/ is after must be stated: /ʔa.bom.hiz-'bo.ki/ n hadr...

Re: Damta: A collaborative world

So far neither trolling nor serious entries as far as I can see? I will start making entries soon I hope, but even when I find the time, I might still take some time to get used to making entries on there. Meanwhile Proto-Bokisig will also be featured on the this forum's Lexember thread as...

Re: Miscellaneous fun facts about your conlang to share and know

One small one about Yélian I just spotted in Lexember: Normally, objects that appear in pairs, like hands, socks, eyes etc. have a dual number in Yélian. vanit "hand" + vanit-em "hands [dual]" - vanitan "hands [plural] However, the word condan "foot" does not have a designated dual form. Why? Becau...

Re: Lexember 2019

For Lexember 7, I have a collocation: /kuʔihɛ ʔo.'da.tus/ = gift or act for which nothing is expected in return /kuʔihɛ/ normally is a stative verb (fulfilling the role of an adjective) that expresses that something comes alone (it is derived from “lone tree”). A short example dialogue: dɛx-hɛ nuz s...

More words derived from previous entries, both making use of the nominaliser "kuku" which is used to express 1. a quantity, or 2. a specific part of a greater total; the part is of quality X, the rest of the total isn’tfor abstract quality. It is different to the nominaliser "ku" which is expresses ...

Re: Lexember 2019

I'm just gonna continue with some words from the building blocks I now have: Proto-Bokisig /ʔo.'da.som/ "to receive" This is basically the same as /ʔo.'da.ma/ "to give", but the other dynamic verb ending, derived from the earlier dummy verb /som/, is added. /ʔo.da.'som.hu/ "(government) official" Fi...

Re: Lexember 2019

I am late, so very late [D;] Proto-Bokisig /ʔo.'da.ma/ "to give" DAT-hand-VERB The the verb ending /ma/ is derived from a dummy verb that could be conceptualised as "to do". There also exist other verb endings derived from dummy verbs in Proto-Bokisig, namely /he/ and /hɛ/ for stative verbs (mostly ...

Re: Damta: A collaborative world

Miraheze looks good, but the 60-day deactivation period also bugs me. I have now started a Damta Wiki on fandom, but much prefer the look of Miraheze, and also don't understand how it works really. I'm sure Khemehekis can assist though, and actually I should have left starting the fandom wiki to him...

Re: Damta: A collaborative world

We could just go with Frathwiki then?

EDIT: Apparently with them it's not just a matter of simply registering, but one must enter a biography (and possibly CV [O.O] ) and then be approved, something I'm not really willing to do right now.

I tried to register with Wikidot, but unfortunately the email with the confirmation link never came through; has anybody had the same problem?

Re: Damta: A collaborative world

Nah, just a way to treat it graphically. Plate tectonics could be used to inform it though. Hopefully I can make the time soon. That's what I meant, I wouldn't really know where to make ground higher and where not because plate tectonics are fairly difficult to me. I want to set up a timeline and m...

Re: Proto-Bokisig

Relative clauses with two arguments In relative clauses with two arguments (one agent and one object), the syntactic relationship between referent noun and non-referent (i.e. which is agent and which is object) is expressed through both word order and suffixation. This process is complicated by the...

Re: Damta: A collaborative world

I'm glad to hear :) I am thinking about a potential technique I could use to create different elevations, or the appearance of them. I'll make something to show what I'm talking about when I have the opportunity but it is basically overlaying textures over the map and adding shadow to them but it c...

General syntax The general word order is SOV, both in declarative sentences and in questions (which use the interrogative particle “(kun)sɛkun”); the only exception are relative clauses (see below). Relative clauses Relative clauses are left branching, with the predicate of the relative clause dire...

Re: Proto-Bokisig

While I have primarily been developing Proto-Bokisig into the Classical language recently, I noticed I had been sitting on quite a lot of grammar that I hadn't posted yet; in the wake of developing paradigms for the daughterlang (the Classical variety), I also noticed that I am already ending up wit...
