Re: What sports do you like/play/watch?

But I think a lot of people actually want a sport rather than self defense. Also, Micamo, don't underestimate Judo, it is a proper martial art. It just depends on how you train it. I just like the feeling of it, mainly the feeling of momentum and speed. I'm actually quite timid so it's not...

Re: What sports do you like/play/watch?

I've heard about tricking before, but I don't see the appeal. It's like 'hey, I don't actually wanna do any sort of martial arts, but I wanna look real cool doing flying kicks n stuff.' I prefer actual martial arts.

Re: Swedish lessons - Svenskalektioner

Förlåt. But the chatting is kinda how I'm learning Swedish. Talar du tyska? I don't think Swedish has the same verb kicked to the end thing. Jag talar lite tyska, men holländska är min modersmål. Dutch kicks the verb to the back as well. I think, since I know German and Dutch, when I go into German...

Re: Most and least condensed/economical languages?

Germans a bit take-other-words-and-mash-them-together. It's a fusi-native language! EDIT: Is it called polysynthetic? Nope, it's called agglutinative. Although German, as well as most Germanic languages, can be very agglutinative in forming new words through compounds, when it comes to grammar, Ger...

Jag vill mig ock Svenska lära.

But it's a bit annoying to try and find all the lessons amidst all your chatting.

Re: The worst sounding natlang ever

Dutch. At least when it comes to Germanic languages. You must have never heard Norwegian; it's like somebody with a really silly stereotypical Scandinavian accent talking German. Really, scandinavian languages can sound okay, but often just sound very silly. German sounds either silly or just plain...

Re: Happy Texas Independence Day!

That's what we call a coup d'état. That's hardly a part of the democratic system is it? Any system can be overthrown if some guy with power randomly takes over the country, this won't be solved with anarchy at all, if anything, anarchy will only make it easier for psychopathic dictators to seize pow...

Well, the president will have to obey, because in the end, the parliament has the authority to make that dicision.

Re: Happy Texas Independence Day!

No, the parliament will stop the president from doing silly things: a democratically elected president can't actually do what he wants. What you just described is the scenario in a dictatorship; dictators can actually do what they want unless the army refuses to obey. When people get the power to do...

Re: Happy Texas Independence Day!

The democratic system is stopping the president.

Anarchy would just turn into some sort of super capitalist paradise where all the companies have their private armies.

I'd rather live in a flawed democracy, thank you very much.

Nuxálk....

It's all fun in theory, but it just sounds like somebody with a speech disorder when actually spoken, as far as I can conclude from the one sample of spoken Nuxálk I have heard.

Re: Happy Texas Independence Day!

How about letting people make their own decisions about how they live their lives? Different people have different tastes, different problems they have to cope with, and different solutions that are best for them personally. But who's going to make sure everyone has the freedom to make their own de...

No, exorcism is not just Catholic, it is also practiced by various Propestant groups, most notably the so called charismatics.
