Re: Random phonology/phonemic inventory thread

Other than that, I According to Phonology by Roger Lass putting vowels into symmetrical shapes to fill up "slots" instead of by actual articulation varies by linguist, so I wouldn't consider it much of a problem...

Re: Most and least condensed/economical languages?

English seems pretty compact, for example viewing packages and signs with English/Spanish on them, it always looks like Spanish has 2x the syllables to say the same thing; in Spanish they never seem to omit articles, it has that round-about "de" construction, and all words in the language barring gr...

Old English did something similar:

hwæt - Nominative/Accusative
hwȳ - Instrumental
hwæs - Genitive

What, why, whose respectively.

So how much of it do you retain? Would you call yourself "fluent" or do you need to look up most words/morphemes/etc.?

"Ya'll". I live in Texas so just about everyone says it, but I don't want to (I dunno why, it's just not "me"). Sometimes I slip up and almost say it though. :(

Consonant Inventory:
m n
p t k ŋg
s
ɾ
j w

Syllable Structure:
(C)V(V)(Stop)

/ŋg/ is a prenasalized consonant, and only appears syllable finally. Is there a viable way for this to have evolved as the only voiced stop?

This sentence seems odd to me. Usually "'til/when hell freezes over" is used in a negative way: "The day you get an A in math will be the day hell freezes over".
