Re: (L&N) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

What would non-traditional High German or a non-traditional dialect be? Also, I don't get that part a...

Re: Ni'óno3íínow - Esseintially just Latin really

Looks good! I like the part where clusters that didn't even contain a velar in Latin are now splitting due to palatalization. Do I understand correctly that you're referring to the fact that /t d/ palatalise rather than /k g/? If so, yes, I also like the fact that it goes in a very different direct...

Re: Guess The Language!!!

/q/ is indeed very common among Turkic languages east of Anatolia, so its presence in the language sample won't help much. [:P] But yes, it is a Turkic language and spoken in Asia.

A lateral fricative is also sometimes reconstructed for Proto-Kartvelian. It has various different reflexes among the daughter languages, including (Old) Georgian /s/ - Svan /l/ (OGeo. sʒe Sv. ləǯe "Milk" < PK *łʒ₁e-) and Georgian /l/ vs Svan /š/ (Geo. asuli Sv. asuš, aswiš "girl").
