Re: What did you accomplish today?

pyar/ra/_#
Well, that would make sense if -pyar was some unusually common final fragment. Otherwise it would be a little weird to have such a specialized sound change (I would rather see -pyar → -ra to be a result of a chain of several processes).
ra/ra/_#

Re: What did you accomplish today?

Since the 4th Tumblr Conlang Relay has been dead for half a year now, I've decided to post my Ronc Tyu torch which I wrote last November. It's one of my favorite conlang texts ever, because it's an everyday conversation with a significant amount of concultural background, a type of text I've never ...

That could work! I could use the demon called the Shodra. It sucks sexual energy out of people (make sure to masturbate or have sex often, everybody!). It beats the adults because they're sexual, but the children are not so it loses to them. You see, Rock-Paper-Scissors doesn't work if there is an ...

/i ɪ ɪ̃ e ẽ/ i ɪ ɪ̃ e ẽ
/iː ɪː ɪ̃ː eː ẽː/ ii ɪɪ ɪ̃ɪ̃ ee ẽẽ
What about using «ı ĩ ıı ĩĩ» for /ɪ ɪ̃ ɪː ɪ̃ː/? :)

Also, using both macrons and doubling to mark length (in consonants, nonetheless!) looks a bit confusing.

Re: Attaywipogg'oqa: My first attempt at conlanging

Retroflex fricatives without retroflex stops is... iffy. Not impossible but something about it just sits wrong with me. Polish, unless you count the retroflex affricate as a stop. I'd put here one of my traditional rants against labelling velarized laminal postalveolars as “retroflex”, but I'll spa...

I could even have my cake and eat it too. I can maintain a distinction between the palatalized consonants and the palatal glides if I have a five-vowel system (with roundness) and collapse to three, with mid vowels merging with high ones and blocking the palatalizing from occurring: *sio > siu *siu...

Re: Esperanto soources of Latin and Romance languages...

Esperanto is already a practical European style romance language. One of the main purposes for Esperanto is to eliminate national barriers so why (if you dont mind me asking) would you want to take that and work from it?
Esperanto was Zamenhof's wet dream on how would his favourite French look like.

Ahzoh wrote:No, because phonology deals with sounds and doesn't deal with morphology and syntax. While phonology can affect morphology, phonology primarily deals with sounds of the language.
Still, the grammar isn't limited to morphology and syntax.
