Re: what languages influence your conlangs?

Germanic languages (especially those from Norse), Finnish, Latin, Italiano, and Quenya. There are other, very minor influences, as well, but those are the main ones.

Re: What kind of conlanger are you?

I think we may have a new type on our hands.

Perfectionist: Keeps trying new things in order to make the perfect language. Like a scrapper, but each "new language" is just another attempt at the same thing. Each sketch is almost identical to the previous.

Double Negatives

Had quite a stimulating discussion about the logical nature of double negatives. Your opinions? Is concord lacking in logic, or is it simply a different way? We came to the conclusion that polarity IS better, allowing greater ease of expression. I'm unsure, however, whether he agrees with me about t...

Recently got into Shingeki no Kyojin. I just love how clever the battle formations are. ^_^

I both like the sound and etymology behind that. I'm interested in your Conlang now. [:D]

Scrapper turned loyalist. The whole time I was trying to create the perfect language (of coursel, perfect in my opinion).

I created this thing so damned long ago, and it's still alive. Anyway.

3 - Drie
4 - Vadro
5 - Vense
6 - Kusi
7 - Setta
10 - Otte

Re: Your/You're conflict

But the attitude seems to be, "I'll write what I want and you have to decipher it. I can't be bothered putting in the effort to make my point clearly." Your and You're are pronounced EXACTLY the same. You cannot possibly confuse the two in speech, because it's all context. You hardly need to "decip...

Re: Your/You're conflict

I'm not saying standardisation is wrong. It's damn well important. I just feel if we kept in mind that there isn't truly any "truer" or "purer" language, and that we're doing it for our own convenience, people would be less vicious about it all. They act like a crusader sometimes.

That's not getting rid of Nouns, that's making all nouns bound morphemes.

I don't think it really matters, honestly. xD
And I find it funny how "Grammar Nazis" are in fact the most wrong of all, saying that there is "correct" language.

Re: [Sex-based] Gender in first and second person pronouns

I've got the distinction in my Conlang, but it really is just 'cos I think it's cool as hell. I don't think it'd be very useful in real life. I did just think though, how useful they'd be on the internet.

Your/You're conflict

People all over the internet fly into rages over a certain spelling. They call it grammar. I don't think it's grammar, but spelling. Do you guys think so?

Re: Stagnation

I'm the same. That's why it's taken me so long. The other type of conlanger is someone who makes lots of little sketches to expand their knowledge of linguistics and just explore. And cases + strict order could happen, but is unstable . It would either lose its cases, or lose its strict word order, ...

Re: Stagnation

Certain aspects simply occurring in natural languages isn't an indication - it's whether those things could truly go together. It just seems to me you've got a the problem of creative block. Just keep trying what you like. Taken me 3 years to find something I like. 3 years to have a stable Conlang.
