Re: CONLANG RELAY XI

Last year we had ten people in each ring, we don't have enough for that yet (only 15 people right now). If we get some more three or so people i'll split into two rings.

Is a language more likely to have a parent root meaning something like "related to the heavens" and a derivative root, specifically, for stars or unrelated roots for the heavens and stars?
Sounds cultural/cosmological but also I'd say separate heaven and star roots are more likely

CONLANG RELAY XI

BEHOLD! It is time for the next CBB Conlang Relay! Inscriptions are open until we decide they are closed, and i still have to find a base text. If someone else has a text they'd like to use and wouldn't mind running the relay instead of me i wouldn't mind it either. Quick explanation for those that ...

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

In a ditransitive applicative voice construction with a word order of SOV, I can't decide if the applied object (AplO) should come before the basic object (BasO) or vice versa. Subject-AplO-BasO-V or Subject-BasO-AplO-V? Whats the order in inherent ditransitives? AplO and BasO should pattern with d...

Re: CBB Conlang Relay X

Once we get, say, 6 people i'll put up a dedicated thread. I assume that'll be when the ukogbanians in discord wake up lol. In the meanwhile i'll be looking for a good initial text.

I'm going to just post it here hoping y'all still receive notifications from this. Don't you think its time for a new relay? I'd be up for organizing it, who's up for it?

I finished figuring out the affixes and the verb template in Yashuhay, and made a few example sentences: thokóoh thu-aka-Ø-º?-°:h 2s.SUBJ-know-"ERG"-VOL-IPFV 'you know' kokákukooh ko-ka-aka-Ø-°t-º?-°:h g9.OBJ-NEG-know-"ERG"-2s.SUBJ-VOL-IPFV 'you don't know [it.g9]' eshángenge henyáathuupya umú eshóm...

Re: (Conlangs) Q&A Thread - Quick questions go here

How do prenasalized consonants arise in a language? I have a theory that it is through vowel reduction, so that /miba/ becomes /məba/ and later /mba/ and then /ᵐba/. Is this how it occurs or are there other ways? I think I've seen both /b/ and /m/ shift unconditionally to prenasalised stops. There'...

Hihi, I haven’t been very active on here either lately. Since last night, I’ve been jotting down some ideas about Húú, Híí’s long-dormant sisterlang. What have you been up to? Well lately (as in the last two and half years) all my langing and worlding creativity has been direct at Sahar (CWS's coll...

Re: CBB Conlang Relay X (sign-up open)

I wanna participate but i don't know which language yet. Since i'm somewhat late i'll be placed towards the end anyway, but i'm still asking: Ideally i'd wanna have my turn after the Oct. 20th, but i'll most likely still be able to do it any date after Oct. 1st.

Re: Altlang Ideas Discussion

Maybe if you couple that with intense derivation based on prefixes and weaken word final elements you could make ablaut both primary and triconsonantal.
