This looks nice! What do G and N stand for? I like the changes you have so far, particularly the ones involving the retroflex consonants. Will there be further sound changes?
Glide and Nasal, I'm far from finished and I should have something less rushed in a week or so.

A protolang

Articles: a 3 way distinction?

So I was thinking that a certain article could be halfway in definiteness, for example: Definite: both the speaker and the listeners(s) know about the the thing Indefinite: No one knows the thing. 3rd distinction: The speaker knows about the thing but the listeners do not. Can this happen in a lang ...

Re: Random phonology/phonemic inventory thread

That's cool, I was a bit *insert_emotion_here* about having e and o as allophones while those low-mid vowels had a quality to them, but I'm probably overthinking; especially since it's a sketch.

I was looking at Iroquoian, yes.

Re: Random phonology/phonemic inventory thread

Code: Select all

/i/ /u/
(e) /ɘ/ (o)
/ɛ̃/ /ɔ̃/
         /a/ /ɑː/ (ɑ̃ː)
Round brackets = allophones [:)]
Is this vowel system plausible?

I remember a comment by some Asian-language-speaker that some conlangs with tones don't sound natural, does something like this fix that?

Re: Australian

Then all bets are off on what this "influencing language" could be. Maybe mandarin, or an invading Indonesia (like the Normans [;)] ), Japanese (In an alternate universe where the Axis wins) or maybe something akin to the White Australia Policy arises and the influencing lang is French or dutch or g...

Re: A half-logographic semitic script

How would you represent tri -consonant roots logographically. Does anyone know what he/you means by that? I would suggest making the [glyphs] for multiple consonant roots wider... but surely the vowel [glyphs] space it out to incline the consonant number. How to decide on symbols to represent each ...

Re: Interesting Ideas

For many of them, I disagree that they are necessarily bad. More like 'bad advice on what bad ideas for conlanging are'. "338# Have the gaps in your conlang’s phonology (e.g. it has an unvoiced fricative but not the corresponding voiced one) be explained by the fact that you couldn’t come up with m...

These are some diacritics I made for my alpha syllabary, they are put under the glyph and indicate tone and the medial consonant.
