It is very disappointing to go to a zoo and see raccoons as an exhibit.

I agree. One time I saw a zoo use a clearly robotic parrot as an exhibit.

A rubber snake (supposedly a replica) once took the place of the real albino snake when the real one was in the vet's clinic for a while, in my city's zoo. 'Twas a scandal.

Jeez, guess I'm not the only one. The aforementioned robotic parrot isn't a stand-in for anything BTW.

Hehe. I will give you one hint though, if you haven't finished deciphering the Uskra. There is a pair of homophones. One is a verb and one is a noun.

The language isn't hard to decipher, actually. I like Uskra alot.

What's getting me is that when I finish translating it...it makes no sense whatsoever.

Translating Rule of thumb from Doctor Spike, Ph.D., former Classics Professor @ VQFOO-

Frequently take nose off of page to avoid collisions/derailment.

Corollary:

There's decoding, and then there's comprehending a text.

I know that. I already translated from the literal Uskra. The translation I deciphered made no sense whatsoever.

My girlfriend was actually angry about seeing cattle in the Dublin zoo. :P
That she grew up on a cattle farm may have had something to do with it...

Not to rush you or anything, but I went and caught tonsillitis, so I'm stuck in bed for the next 24 hours...which would be a great time to do my translation :)

(Note: after it's been passed around a few times, it really doesn't have to make sense anymore. Usual best practice for translators is to focus more on comprehending the text than decoding it, as Lambuzhao says, but there's probably not much to comprehend at this point :P )

Sounds like we are entering that part of translation rings known as the
"displacement of words from their (right) places" or "twisting of words in their sets".

Be strong!

Listen to him. The text made no sense when I got it. So there's no hope for you. [xD]

You know, I really wish that "were" and "wyf" hadn't fallen out of use outside of "werewolf"

Calling a catgirl a "Wyfcat" is just cool.

Putting it back this way would put "man" back to it's true gender-neutral form - We are all men, but half of us are Wermen and the other half are Wifmen

This is a good idea.

That Greek Golden Dawn party amuses me.

(And by 'amuses me', I mean 'completely and utterly bemuses me for how absolutely disgusting it is)

And I've suddenly developed an affection for the Greek language.
