What are you listening to/watching?

What can I say? It doesn't fit above, put it here. Also the location of board rules/info.

I'm not really a fan of 99% of the modern pop music I hear on the radio but I just stumbled on Sơn Tùng M-TP by accident and I gotta say I really dig his songs! Haven't listened to V-pop before but I hope it's all like this. [:)]

Thanks for those! I like the first one best. Very cute, but can't help but thinking it was simply a long Oppo advert. [¬.¬]

For me today, some Chopin.

Sat through a movie called "The Lost Tree" today. It would've been better titled "The Lost Movie".

Oftentimes, you know what you're getting into with a horror movie -- trying to run through a forest in stiletto heels; walking into a room before -- God forbid -- you switch the lights on; getting your car inspected before you attempt to start it in one hell of a thunderstorm... But this doesn't start out this way, and the whole movie proceeds with people making the strangest (by which I mean inane) decisions -- turning on a light is the least of these people's problems. Even the characters keep asking, "What's going on?" -- for Heaven's sake, clue in the audience when you work it out, will ya? And the movie doesn't really end (not even a "The End??"), it just stops.

The writer and director are the same person, so I guess Dad owns the studio. Horrible writing that goes no where and leads to the most inexplicable character motivations and plot holes you could drive a ghost barge through. Some film techniques were okay. But I don't think this would even make "Mystery Science Theatre 3000" fodder. Just [O.o] [O.O] [:$] [o.O]

On a happier note, just saw on a French variety program a recent trio called "arcadians" -- very chipper, well-done harmony, and the two without visible tats are just dreamy. Can't seem to find them online just now, alas.

The Lost Tree
I looked it up on Youtube. Found some trailers, zilch in the review dept. I also found the compleat movie uploaded. The comments in Trailer #2 seem to include the writer-director's edgier friends, relatives and Fillum-classmates.

I finally watched the live-action "Beauty and the Beast", and I enjoyed it with reservations. The story benefits from changes that bring the movie closer to the stage musical, as well as fill several plot holes. For example, it's made clear that the inhabitants of the castle are gradually losing their humanity and, when the curse eventually becomes permanent, will become lifeless objects, which boosts the stakes compared to the animated film. Also, having Belle ask her father to bring her a rose from the market was a pleasant call-back to the original fairy tale.

Emma Watson just embodies Belle; it's one of those casting decisions that makes sense from the moment it's announced to the final credits roll. But the treatment of Watson's performance is also what gives me pause. I can't help feeling like the director or someone at Disney failed Watson in various ways. The main problem is the autotuning of her singing voice. When Belle opens her mouth to sing, she sounds like a literal bell. The artificiality of it pulls me right out of the story. I understand that Watson is an actor, not a singer, but in that case, Disney should have made do with her natural voice - flaws and all - or hired a professional singer to dub her songs, not autotuned her into oblivion.

All that said, Belle spends most of the movie not singing, and I was so in love with Watson's underlying performance. Plus the Beast gets his own song, and it's so dang angsty and beautiful. [:D] [<3]

Lindsay Ellis has a new video out in which she delves into why the Netflix movie Bright is so bad. A lot of it comes down to poor worldbuilding, and there's a lot of things she points out that would be good sorts of things for us worldbuilders to keep in mind.

Great great great Mike Oldfield, early Genesis, ELP vibe. Mebbe Pink Floyd & Gentle Giant, too.

I'm glad you like it! I think you would also like the rest of that album, and probably his solo career in general.

And in keeping with the thread, "Go" by OSI, which is sort of what would happen if Peter Gabriel had grown up listening to Tool.
