What can I say? It doesn't fit above, put it here. Also the location of board rules/info.

:gle: Tá mé ag foghlaim Gaeilge. Is maith liom é, ach is teanga dheacair í.
I am learning some Irish now. I like it, but it is a difficult language.

Tá an fuaimniú agus an litriú andeacra go háirithe, i gcónaí deabhail a fhios agam go bhfuamním na focail go ceart.
Especially the pronunciation and the orthography are very hard, I never know if I pronounce the words correctly.

:rus: Не сомневаюсь в чём, что верхные предложения абсолютно неправильно, но я не знаю как высказаться лучше, потому что я не могу находить много хороших примеров за разные сорты предложений.
I am sure that the upper sentences are completely wrong but I don't really know how to express myself in Irish properly as I can't find many good example sentences for different sorts of sentences.

I also think that my Russian is total crap tonight as I already took a tiring Russian test at school today and I am very tired now. xD

我觉得爱尔兰语是很有意思的语言,尤其喜欢正词法。
Wǒ juéde Ài'ěrlányǔ shì hěn yǒuyìsi de yǔyán, yóuqí xǐhuan zhèngcífǎ.
I think Irish is a very interesting language. I especially like the orthography.

Мне нужно практиковать мой русский. Также мне нужно переучиваться всё.
I need to practice my Russian. Also, I need to relearn everything.

Estoy seguro que me equivoqué mucho. Es más cómodo hablar en español que ruso para mí.
I'm sure I made many mistakes. Speaking Spanish is more comfortable for me than Russian.
I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing.

Necesito aprender el ruso porque tengo que cantar dos canciones de Rajmáninov.
I need to learn Russian, because I have to sing two Rachmaninoff songs.

¿Por qué tienes que cantarlas?
Why do you have to sing them?

Estoy seguro que tienes razón, pero dijo que tiene que cantarlas, no necesariamente que quiere cantarlas.
I'm sure you're right, but they said they have to sing them, not necessarily that they want to sing them.

Estoy simplemente curioso sobre su selección de palabras.
I'm just curious about their word choice.

mbrsart a dit précédemment qu'il chante dans un chœur. C'est probablement pour ça qu'il est obligé de les chanter.
[… a di pʁesedamɑ̃ kil ʃɑ̃t dɑ̃‿zœ̃ kœʁ | sɛ pʁɔbabləmɑ̃ puʁ sa kil ɛ‿tɔbliʒe d le ʃɑ̃te]
mbrsart has previously said he's in a choir. That's probably why he has to sing them.

¡Oh, lo siento! No lo supe. [:$]
Oh, sorry! I didn't know that.

Me gusta este tema mucho porque me gusta hablar o escribir en idiomas que no son mi lengua materna.
I really like this topic because I like speaking or writing in languages that aren't my native language.

Me gusta practicarlas porque espero que esa práctica voy a ayudarme a hablar esas idiomas mejor.
I like to practice them because I hope that practice will help me speak those languages better.

Aber ich habe oft Schwierigkeiten, wann ich versuche, an etwas zu denken, darüber man reden kann. [:S]
But I often have trouble when I try thinking of something to talk about.

What do these sentences mean (taken from my course book)?
  • 他不买什么。
  • 他问我送什么好。
  • 他也不怎么清楚。
I think that the first one means "he's not buying anything", but I'm clueless about the other two.

dijiste que quieres hablar mejor [;)] se usa el subjuntivo sí la frase primera tiene esperanzas o deseos.
you said you wanted to speak better [;)] the subjunctive is used if the first phrase has hopes or desires

y probablemente no quisiste decir "esa" porque no está en tu traducción.
and you probably didn't want to say "esa" because it wasn't in your translation.

I think so too. Particularly in the Conlang Fluency thread, I often want to write something, but usually people only either talk about the weather or some weird conversation that I can't understand, so I can't think of anything to say.

Tuslaven Kukristo wrote:estoy de acuerdo contigo. Es especialmente difícil porque no podemos hablar de religion. Pero, intentaré; alguna vez, has tratado de aprender un idioma nuevo por tu idioma segundo?
tratar a solas significa "to treat," y sólo significa "to try" si se usa con de. para decir "try" sin un objeto, probablemente quieres intentar
"tratar" by itself means "to treat", and only means "to try" if it's used with "de." in order to say "try" without an object. you probably want "intentar"

las otras correciones me parecen más lógicas, pero probablemente puedes ser entendido sin hacerlas.

the other corrections seem more natural to me, but you could probably be understood without making them.

en cuanto a tu pregunta, quiero aprender el húngaro en español pero no sé si los libros o materiales existen.
as for your question, i want to learn hungarian in spanish but i don't know if the books or materials exist.
eventually ill work out a good conlang :)

I often learn stuff (e.g. languages) in English and it is my second language. However, I don't have enough knowledge of my other languages to be able to study other languages in them.

Sí, realmente la dije. No estuve mintiendo. Esa declaración fue verdadero, y es todavía verdadero.
Yep, I really said so. I wasn't lying. That statement was true, and it's still true.

¿O estoy entendiendo tu uso de ese emoticón mal?
Or am I misunderstanding your use of that emoticon?

No, quise que decirla, y está en mi traducción. "que" no está en la traducción.
No, I meant to say it, and it is in my translation. "que" isn't in the translation.

Una traducción inglesa más literal es:
A more literal English translation is:

"Me gusta practicarlas porque espero que esa práctica voy a ayudarme a hablar esas idiomas mejor."
"I like to practice them because I hope that that practice will help me speak those languages better."

Estoy usando color aquí para clarificación. Las palabras azules son conjunciones (?) y las palabras rojas son adjetivos demostrativos (?).
I'm using color here for clarification. The blue words are conjunctions (?) and the red words are demonstrative adjectives (?).

No estoy enteramente seguro sobre mi terminología allí, pero espero que puedes entenderme. [:S]
I'm not entirely sure about my terminology there, but I hope you can understand me.

Lo siento otra vez.
Sorry again.
