I think it's a remote linking thing. Once I went to tvtropes and viewed the image, the link started working.

Also, more sneak peaks of the special edition:

I beg for 2016 to end a week earlier than planned.
But 2016 must know some folks in high places, b/c it shtups us thusly:

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/5-4 ... ID=DELLDHP

As it continues to sweep a third of the stars from the sky with its tail, right up to the very end (plus one second).

If 2016 ends a week early, any tragedies that would have happened in that week would just sour the new year.
I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing.

Released a while ago, but this section was taken and re-released upon the sad news: Leia's Theme, performed by Sonya Belousova of PlayerPiano.

The tributes that took place seemed wonderful. From what I understand, filming for Star Wars: Episode VIII has largely finished, so Carrie Fisher will likely appear in it, and I'd imagine it would be partly dedicated to her memory. I suspect her death will be handled well in the writing and filming of Episode IX as well.

It's certainly been a terrible year for the deaths of so many of our icons and heroes. Fingers crossed 2017 isn't nearly as bad.

I requested this from the local jizz-band, in memory of her Royal Galactic Majesty Leia Organa, since they didn't know Lapti Nek -

Right, Star Wars day is upon us and with 2 new films I think viewing order needs to be discussed. Up until 2015 I'd been saying:

May 4th: Episode IV and Episode V ("may the fourth be with you")
May 5th: Episode II and Episode III ("revenge of the fifth")
May 6th: Episode VI and optional Episode I ("revenge of the sixth")

... taking the Machete Order and applying it to the "revenge of the fifth/sixth" debate.

After January last year I would have said replace Episode I with Episode VII (go fully into the Machete Order and set up May 7th for Episode VIII and Episode IX when they're finally released), but I'm not sure where to throw in Rogue One.

A friend of mine recently said it should go before Episode IV since the very end of Rogue One marks the beginning of A New Hope, but I don't agree. Rogue One is so tonally different from the other films that it doesn't seem right to place it first, and ANH sets up what Star Wars, at least in terms of primary story line, actually is (and spoilers the main protagonists of Rogue One all die, so it has the same "issue" The Phantom Menace has of having few characters to get attached to).

Personally, I'd place Rogue One after Episode VI and before Episode VII (dropping TPM altogether). It makes the timeline of the "old saga" less "skippy", maintaining the idea that II and III follow on directly from Vader's reveal as Luke's father and without having the audience then wait longer for "wait, but what happens next between Luke and Vader?". Then playing Rogue One gives you a bit of a break, you get some different characters that you can't get attached to, then on to the "new saga" with Episode VII (which is also visually similar and has a similarly dark-ish tone).

Spoiler:
Technically, I did tho. <Jedi> would be declined the same in SG & PL (like sheep, deer, fish). And many nouns use the /i/ declension for the plural in Rozwi. Thus, how many Jedi we talking about here…?

BTW, The movie title appears in :spa: as Los Últimos Jedi (¡PL!), implying more than one, which was a massive spoiler deposited at the movie's threshold.

It's the same in French, with Les Derniers Jedi.

More spoiler-y spoilers.

Spoiler:
Favorite part: Hyperspace Holdo. I could hear a pin drop in that theater. But it makes me wonder why nobody in the galaxy's tried relativistic weapons before.
Most confusing part: Canto Bight! We better be seeing the Master Codebreaker again, because otherwise, they spent way too much time looking for a character who barely got one line.

Luke had some big shiznit to deal with.

Spoiler:
It becomes clearer that a wonderful duality that has grown since Return of the Jedi. Luke is the redemptive, contemplative, and »summarily badass on the psionic/ethereal plane» kind of path.
Kylo is the corrupting, seething, self-retting autocrat that sought to right the "wrongs" of his grandad and take over without delay. Clearly, «Up with this shit I will no longer put» has become Kylo's para-Sith mantra. Two Skywalkers that, each from their own certain point of view, were moving ahead from Anakin's curse(slavery) and trying to save what was salvageable: Luke looking to liberate what's good about the Jedi (even if it means their extinction), while Kylo sought that ultimate power over the galaxy against becoming the next genie in the black-suit bottle.

IMHO It was true poetic justice that Snoke saw what he wanted to see. From a certain point of view (i.e. his ultimate supremacy), Kylo was going to strike down Rey. His judgement was clouded by his own arrogance and zzzzzip! Good night, crazy überGoldenmember.

Makes me want to know all the more what Rey's role in it is/will be/has been. Even if she's a nobody, her neminity screams Odysseic volumes. Whatever the opposite is to spinning in one's grave, Joseph Campbell is doing just that regarding Rey's role as a protagonistic nemo.

If anything good at all, The Last Jedi carries two incredibly important torches from Empire: continuing despite roof-burning&collapsing failure all about you, and the whole "from a certain point of view" concept. In good ways.

And the Holo-Hyperspace was like the frigging soundless concussion-bombs that Fett was using on Obiwan in the Asteroid Field. That sonic nothingness was so cinematically squadelphious.
SJW or not, that was clearly the ghost of Han Solo's New Hope upbraiding at Luke
Spoiler:
Hyperspace ain't like dusting crops, boy
, aimed at hotshot flyboy Dameron.

In hindsight, Luke tossing The Lightsaber… shit. If I were him, and I knew I was going to snuff it on Ach-To, and I got that calling card. F*CK! I'd've thrown that lazersword away, too!

R2 playing that message - cheapest shot and probably one of the best, best-placed and most pregnant with meaningest fan-services I ever saw in a flick.
Thank goodness C-3PO wasn't there to be all pissy and whatnot. It was like a Frodo and Samwise "glad you are here at the end of all things" moment. Great great great great great chiastic echo from the start of it all for Luke. Did I mention how it was great great great?
Well, it was.

Two nitpicks (Sorry)
1) The Emperor's erm… Snoke's throne room looks dumber and dumber. The plain red ¿sheets? look like some kind of unfinished red greenscreen effect that Disney no longer had a budget to finish doing. Would have much preferred seeing the Star Destroyer swatting helpless escape-ships, instead of from that crazy Buck Rogers-style boobtoob. Plus, the Red Guard uniforms would have looked nicer against a dark metallic (cf. Palpatine's Observatory in ROTJ) or even just against a huge-o window to outer space background (sort of the same as ROTJ).
Or white curtains. Or black curtains.

2) The Casino Planet.Carillon. Canto Bight. Canto Abide It. I cannot help but think of Battlestar Galactica over and over and over and over:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wtwRwczrIA

…but without the Space Angels. Without the wealthy aliens being eaten alive by the quasi-servile Ovions, and no Dirk Benedict-style smooching.
Make it stop, Finn! Make. It. Stop.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYA4V81KIxE
I'm going bonkers now.
Let me stop.
