What can I say? It doesn't fit above, put it here. Also the location of board rules/info.

Your username

Post by Atharron » 19 Dec 2010 17:11

I've noticed that many of you have unrecognisable (to me) usernames. I'm guessing that they are from your own conlangs? And I'm wondering what they mean.

Mine is a character from my book. His full name is Cenon Atharron Shefilon Li Taremai, Immortal king of Calnis.
Cenon - 'King'
Atharron -'Warrior' (Athar with the male naming suffix)
Shefilon - 'Shatterer' (Shefil with the male naming suffix)
Li - 'The'
Taremai - 'Immortal'

He rose to the throne after people found out his immortality. He reigned for over five hundred years before abdicating to see the world.

My name is from a now-defunct conlang of mine, and is an inflected form of "Mico" (Love). Micamo means "I am never alone."
My pronouns are <xe> [ziː] / <xym> [zɪm] / <xys> [zɪz]

When I got my very first dial-up Internet account about a hundred years ago I wanted to use the name of the Charles Dickens character Mr. Fezziwig http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fezziwig but changed the spelling to fiziwig just to make it unique. (I.e., so a Google search would find ONLY me, and not Charles Dickens.)

I have used that name on every forum, every email account, and every website and ISP I've ever had. That is, and always will be, my one and only Internet identity.

Ceresz was a Cervenian (a conlang created by Aszev) name I took a few years ago back on the old board. Since then, it has just stuck with me.

"I have to create email adress, fast! What name should I put? I think I heard a interesting game name some time ago. What was it? I think it was something like Rad Red. I'll just put that in. *creates radred@sth.com. Hm it got glued and now it's radred. Oh now I need an email for something else. If I added an y between the a and the d it'd sound a little better.... Hm... Bam raydred is born."

Not something to brag about as you can see...

PS:The game's name turned out to be Ratchet & Clank. I have never played it but oh well...

A random collection of sounds I originally would use for a language, which was later scrapped. I actually use Menietzvetz's word for 'Day' for most things now. (Soneli)

Gryfang was just a made up word that I chose in order to stop getting spam (My previous name was Hyperbrad). AIM had a fit with my name saying it needed to be longer or have numbers. adding the Sir (knighting myself) worked.
I hope to see you soon, and we will talk face to face.

I definitely was reading your name as Sir Angryfang and imagining some kind of wolf lord.

Well, you can't rule that out yet... we haven't met. It is hilarious telling businesses my email and seeing the confused looks on their faces. Watching them pronounce it is fun too.

The dictionary definition is "engineer," though it is also often used to mean "someone who fusses over minor details." My language has a lot of words that are very specific in meaning, or semi-jokes, to the point that I don't have enough "normal" words yet. It's a little like Klingon in it's early years, though I never thought I'd compare Fedrelar to Klingon, they being such different (spacefaring) cultures.
"Cry me a river, build me a bridge, and get over it."

I marvel that the hardest parts of my life (fear, mistakes, guilt, sin, doubt, failure) are of man, while what I crave most (rest, hope, love, peace, forgiveness) are of God.
