A cheap date. ;)
The cheapest, my friend, the cheapest [;)]

(insert stereotype of people from Yorkshire being tight here)

*I don't know how cross-dialectal this word is when it's intended to mean "cheap, miserly, frugal, etc." but I didn't want to use cheap again and it's basically the only other word I'd use.

I usually hear/read it as tight-fisted.

I think tight is more of a UK thing.
But I'm losing my ability to tell now so I'm not sure.

I would normally use tight in a sentence like "I'm a bit tight at the moment" meaning I'm short of money. If I was referring to another person being stingy, I would probably say "he's a bit tight with (his) money", but like Ossicone, I've been living away from home for too long to really tell what's what.
Edit: On second thought, I would probably rather phrase it along the lines of "he's tight when it comes to money"...

I would not use "tight-fisted". Sounds overwrought to me.

I have a similar reaction every time I hear someone say that. It seems that more than a few people use that to mean "independent" or "unaffiliated".

I begun making my own languages when I was still learning a native language (probably because I heard a lot of foreign languages, but nobody bothered to teach them to me, so I thought "screw this, I can talk nonsense too!"). Two years later I was taught Latin alphabet, and I immediately devised a writing system of my own. The Ahtialan language I described on the Internet for the first time in 2006, it acquired its modern form (genuine grammatical structures) in 2003, the earliest dictionary I have comes from 1999, the writing system comes from 1996 or 1997, and the idea for the language, some sounds and word-formation rules, symbolic colours and basic ideas about the conworld and especially the currency started when I was a little bugger. I consider the 1994 as the starting point not because it was a genuine language back then (come on, I was 3 or 4), but because the idea for the language - and therefore, my work on it - started in these times.
Ahtialan was the second language, one older than it did not develop a writing system and became extinct before 2000.

Also, because it looks impressive on forums and I like to exaggerate, even if I can back it up.

What did Ahtialan look like in 1994? I'm curious about the kind of conlang that a 3/4-year-old would come up with.

Something like this:

http://www.graywizard.net/littlestconlanger.htm

She's now in her 20s, and I have no idea if she still conlangs or not, but she was 5ish when the Grey Wizard first introduced her work 15 years ago!
