Avicii passed away on the twentieth (420 Day). One of my housemates has been taking this really hard.

I heard about that. I hadn't heard about him or his music in years, but for some reason I was pretty surprised to hear the news, I guess because he was so young.

When I googled “Shifty Grades of Fey” I found several hits. Looks like a lot of people had that same idea.

However when I googled “Grifty Fades of Shay” all of the hits seemed spurious.

I'm feeling crushed right now. I found this really nice online French-Arpitan dictionary maybe a month ago. It had a good number of entries, context sentences, even a few recordings, and the search function worked in both directions. Perfect for my work on Silvish. But it turns out I never bookmarked it, and now I can't find it in my browser history. [:'(] [:'(] And I don't remember how I found it in the first place. Why??? [:(]

None of them is the one I'm looking for, but thank you for taking the time to aid me in my moment of need. [:)] Truth be told, I haven't seen the first link before; it seems like it could come in useful.

wow a drummed language
Interesting, no?

The above reminds me of prohibitions in Perú during Colonial Times against the making or using drums by slaves. Authorities of the Catholic Church said that the drums produced rhythms which caused people to dance lasciviously and promoted sinfulness. But secular authorities prohibited them out of fears that slaves would use them to communicate across large distances to send plans to revolt.

Nonetheless, the Peruvian slaves made new percussive instruments, among them el cajón, an old fave:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vp2UB68HOT0

Made from wooden crate-boxes that the slaves used to pack up cotton &/or produce (!)

Certainly not as resonant as a big conga or taiko drum, but has that great dry snarish timbre.

Conjunto Perú Negro - Enciéndete Candela

I absolutely [<3] that cascading tumbao rhythm with the cajones, and the rattling quijada.

Reminds me of great parilladas munching anticuchos de corazón (kebabs of marinated beefheart) with friends, slurping cervezas negras (Tartarus-deep black malt beers) and watching Tatooinesque sunsets.

How does it produce that snarish timbre?
(Which is very noticeable btw. )

Has God really got nothing better to do?

Petty Graeco-Roman gods, okay, I can see this. But master of all Creation?

Here's hoping. I'll probably do a few more excursions through my history, but the browser doesn't make it easy.

I think its the grooves or slats that they put in the wood close to the 'top'.

Y'know
sometimes He makes all His phonecalls, and makes all His appointments, answers all His e-mails,
and the agenda-screen on his 42-dimensional Alienware Panopticon, albeit for maybe 666 femtopicogoogolplectiseconds, is clear (!?)

I believe in miracles.
