Are you a conlanger or a conworlder first?

What can I say? It doesn't fit above, put it here. Also the location of board rules/info.

Nope. That’s what they called it. It was an all-New-World event, if i recall correctly.

Oh. Oh, well. It does sound Eldinesquely punnish.

I kinda agree with you. It may have contributed toward my nascent eldinosity.

I have been a conworlder for longer than I have been a conlanger, and I'd still say that I am a conworlder first, even if most of my conlangs are set in a version of the real world that differs in little else than having a few extra languages and the "Elven" conculture. Yet, I am also working on a future history, and am interested in conworlds generally; also, I feel that a good fictional language needs a conworld or conculture as a backdrop, even if it is as simple as "a few homesteads in a remote valley somewhere in the Alps". But you still need to know who speaks it, and how these people live.

I’m a conlanger first, and I only really started wanting a fleshed-out conworld after reading Micamo’s stories back in uh, 2015 was it? However, the conworld has grown rather a lot, and I can only wish that I was better at presenting it.

Let me add that my conworlds serve to tell stories. I am currently working on two of them. One is the near future history "Global Spring" (named after the planned novel), which is turning around the transformation of our society into a free, peaceful, prosperous and ecologically sustainable world society. This one does not involve any conlangs, only a few neologisms. The other is "The Elvenpath" (again, the novel will bear the same name), which lays out the history of a fictional people "in the real world", the Elves, who, however, are a human ethnic group rather than a separate race. This is where my Albic languages are spoken. The purpose of this conworld is to narrate my personal views on the human condition (which, besides historical plausibility, is the main reason why my Elves are 100% human) and the meaning of life. The non-Albic Hesperic languages are simply spin-off products of the Albic project. Both conworlds are connected by one character, an Elven hippie impresario and political activist, occurring in both novels. So my conlangs are just details on my conworlds, which serve to tell stories that are dear to me.

So, while I am a conworlder before being a conlanger, first and foremost I am a writer.

conworlder first and foremost. conlangs are just a crazy as poop process that i don't even bother anymore. con worlds are more fun anyway [:D].

I work so slowly on both that I may as well be neither [:P] I think in general, though, that I'm both in roughly equal measure, especially so in recent years now that I've got my main world roughly set up.
You can tell the same lie a thousand times,
But it never gets any more true,
So close your eyes once more and once more believe
That they all still believe in you.
Just one time.

So do I. Sigh... Anyway I'm/was both equally even though some of my worlds don't have any language to speak of and some of my languages don't have a world - although they may have an underlying draft for a culture or point of view - maybe just my own [:S]
