Wow. What a powerful vibe!

In my cycle of tales that take place on Tirga, my main "army of minions" are called the Graevels, and the are a kind of ogrish being, whose visage looks like something between a hellacious gorgonopsid (like the kinds Robert Bakker drew in his Dinosaur Heresies) and Uncle Deadly from the Muppets Or King Ploobis of Gorch, if you ever had caught him on those weird "Land of Gorch" Muppet sketches on the earliest episodes of SNL .

So I recently came up with the idea of perhaps introducing white plants to my tentative conworld project. Then last night I was browsing Wikipedia and discovered that the saying holds true even for conbiology: whatever "original" idea you can think of, chances are the natural world already does it, except weirder. Behold:

How about Ghostwort (Cryptothallus mirabilis, an achlorophyllous liverwort)

Or any of these:

Just gimme a greenhouse with some of these, some Wollemias, Bunya Bunyas, Ginkgos, Equisetum giganteum, Equisetum telmateia, Lycopodium cernuum, Lygodium [insert species], ginormous Matteuccia struthiopteris, and just lemme percolate for, oh, 140 million years [B)]

I think a greenhouse museum in Saudi Arabia beat you to it...though not by many years.

Just considered this.

Would it have been any better, safety wise,

to have built Jurassic Park in the middle of a (big) desert, instead of on an island?

No, no, no. Triassic World was essentially a desert. Cretaceous World was a Savannah. Cretaceous=MFTREX, Triassic=RAPTORS

( *Zōiōn nekuia, animalia apparescento!* )

I think this thread was originally intended for 'real' animals...

...but I just have to say word about the Image Cuyancúa

Looks a little like this guy. Probably unrelated, though!

The set animal was akin to a canine animal with a snout and flat ears with a forked tail.
Actually, I think this is a better image:

Looks like a saluki with cropped ears. They were bred in Mesopotamia and I wouldn't be surprised if the sha wasn't an early cousin of this doggie:
Image
Crop his ears and clip about 90% of that tail hair and you've got a dead ringer for a sha.

It's obviously a baby Zapdos. As long as you ignore it not being a bird.
I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing.
