Torch received. I won't be able to start translating until tomorrow evening though. I'm sorry about that, two exams in a row [:S]

I have a question. So, I am going to translate the torch text into Vrlungla. Afterwards I'll send it to Fanael and he has to retranslate it into English. Is that right? Because Fanael was the one who sent the torch to me, that made me wonder ...
Edit: I would be sending him two messages, one with a translation, and one without...

Nope, to Ear of the Sphinx. The final translation to English is done by whomever's first.

I'll be honest here, I don't think it's a dangerous assumption. There are a number of reasons that people may use the wrong pronouns here, not the least of which being that basically none of us give any outward indication of our genders. Personally, I would not be offended if someone referred to me as "she" because people here have no way of knowing. And if someone does slip up, I don't think there's any need to make vague threats or ominous warnings. Giving a polite correction seems sufficient.

I've been wondering for a while, what is this game? The OP doesn't say anything about how it works. Is it like the telephone game, but instead of whispering from ear to ear, you translate from conlang to conlang?

Read down the page a little. The 10th and 11th posts in this thread (if I counted correctly) have links that will hopefully answer your questions.

I thought the "dangerous assumption" thing was meant somewhat jokingly. I could be wrong, but I don't think Fanael was seriously making a vague threat or giving an ominous warning.

The OP has a text in English, which is translated into the OP's conlang. The conlang translation (but not the original English text) is sent to the first person in the list, with a vocabulary list and grammatical instructions sufficient to decode the text. The first person must translate from the first conlang into English and into their own conlang, and send their new translation, vocabulary list and grammar instructions to the next person, and so on. Once everyone has done it, the results will be posted and we will see the original English text, and each subsequent conlang and English translation, and we will see how well it survived multiple translations, and where things went wrong (which they mostly always do).
